Life Between the Waters is a 2017 Albanian-language drama film written, directed and produced by Albanian filmmaker Ardit Sadiku, in his debut feature, starring Jorida Meta, Kastriot Shehi and Enxhi Cuku. [1] The narrative focuses on a middle-aged, working-class married couple, whose lives unravel when their daughter suddenly disappears. The film screened at the 2017 Tirana International Film Festival. [2]

Plot

A disaffected mechanic and his unemployed wife experience days of uncertainty and fear after their teenage daughter suddenly disappears. Suspecting that she has run off with a stranger from the Internet, they begin a frantic yet futile search for her, receiving only perfunctory assistance from the local police. During the search, they are forced to recognize the deep sense of alienation that has separated them from their daughter and from one another. [3] [4]

Gjon II Kastrioti, was the son of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, the Albanian national hero, and of Donika Kastrioti, daughter of the powerful Albanian prince, Gjergj Arianiti. He was for a short time Lord of Kruja after his father's death, then Duke of San Pietro in Galatina (1485), Count of Soleto, Signore of Monte Sant'Angelo and San Giovanni Rotondo. In 1495, Ferdinand I of Naples gave him the title of the Signore of Gagliano del Capo and Oria. While in his teens, he was forced to leave the country after the death of his father in 1468. He is known also for his role in the Albanian Uprisings of 1481, when, after reaching the Albanian coast from Italy, settling in Himara, he led a rebellion against the Ottomans. In June 1481, he supported forces of Ivan Crnojević to successfully recapture Zeta from the Ottomans. He was unable to re-establish the Kastrioti Principality and liberate Albania from the Ottomans, and he retired in Italy after three years of war in 1484.

Robert Ndrenika is an Albanian actor and former politician. He was honored with the People's Artist of Albania award in 1988. He was active in films, but also in theater and television performing hundreds of leading and supporting roles.

Adem Zaplluzha was one of the most prolific Kosovan Albanian poets. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown, Prizren, and graduated from the School of Pedagogy at the University of Pristina. After that he worked as a teacher for a while in several villages near Prizren and then as a legal translator at the Kosovan Electricity Corporation after that until the end of his career. He started writing and publishing literature from his childhood with his first poem being published in 1957 in the Pionieri literary magazine. Albania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel, with the song "Ktheju tokës" performed by Jonida Maliqi. Its selected entry was chosen through the national selection competition Festivali i Këngës organised by Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) in December 2018. Open Door is a 2019 Albanian drama road film written and directed by Florenc Papas. It was selected as the Albanian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film debuted at the Sarajevo Film Festival on 19 August 2019, subsequently going on a festival tour that included Thessaloniki, Sofia, Luxembourg, Kolkata, Cartagena and a homecoming in Tirana.

The Majko II Government was the 61st ruling government of the Republic of Albania, led by prime minister Pandeli Majko. It was officially mandated by president Rexhep Meidani on 22 February 2002. After the 2001 parliamentary elections, the alliance led by the Socialist Party won a seat majority for the second consecutive time and managed to form a government headed by Ilir Meta but due to internal conflicts within the party, Meta was forced to offer his resignation on 29 January 2002. Majko managed to persuade most of the party hierarchy, including its chairman Fatos Nano, to form a new government, although as it turned out, for the same reasons as the Meta II Government, he offered his resignation a few months later on 25 July 2002.

The 2022–23 Kategoria Superiore was the 84th official season, or 85th season of top-tier football in Albania and the 23rd season under the name Kategoria Superiore. The season began on 19 August 2022 and ended on 29 May 2023. Partizani won the league title on 29 May 2023, on the last matchday.

Big Brother VIP – Fans' Club is a spinoff of the Albanian reality series Big Brother VIP, and is the Celebrity version of Big Brother – Fans' Club. The show premiered on 17 October 2021 on Top Channel. Big Brother VIP – Fans' Club was announced in September 2021 and has received its own title card and promotional videos. Throughout its first season a total of 19 episodes aired and concluded on 15 February 2022. The series was renewed for a second season and began airing on 8 January 2023. The first season was hosted by Dojna Mema. Mema did not return for the second season, and Megi Pojani took over as presenter. The presenter for the third season, will be Enxhi Nasufi. Iva Tiço was on the first season, as the Opinionist. Ardit Cuni was the Opinionist for the second season of the show, replacing Tiço. On the third season, the two opinionist were Ronaldo Sharka and Ina Kollçaku, replacing Cuni.
