Likando Kalaluka,State Counsel,is a Zambian legal practitioner who served as Attorney General under the government headed by President Edgar Lungu. [1] He is a lawyer and advocate of the High Court for Zambia. [2] [3] [4] Kalaluka is currently serving as the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) board chairman. [5] As Attorney General,Kalaluka was an assistant cabinet member and assistant legal adviser to the Zambian Government. [6]
Kalaluka went to Kabulonga Secondary School where he completed his Grade 12 in 1994. He later studied for his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Zambia (UNZA) graduating in 2001. At UNZA,Kalaluka was a students' union leader;he was the treasurer of the students' body. [7]
In 2003,Kalaluka entered the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education in preparation for the Legal Practitioners Qualification Examination (LPQE),which is a prerequisite postgraduate certificate for one to practice law in Zambia. [8] [9] [10] [11] [12]
In 2004,Kalaluka was admitted to the bar after passing the LQPE. [13]
In 2012,he graduated from the first ever class of the LLM in International and Comparative Disability Law and Policy at National University of Ireland Galway's School of Law. [14]
He was legal practitioner and partner in the law firm Ellis &Co,Lusaka,Zambia,where he specialised in litigation,business advisory and general counsel. [13] As a practising lawyer,he played various roles as an official,lawyer and advisor in various issues concerning social development. [12] [15] [16] [17] [18]
Prior to his nomination as Attorney general,Kalaluka was the Honorary Secretary of the Law Association of Zambia,a position that made him CEO. [19] He also worked as Legal Advisor for Plan International Zambia. [20]
In mid-March 2015,President Edgar Lungu nominated Kalaluka as Attorney General pending ratification by the parliament of Zambia. [18] [8] On 25 March 2015,parliament unanimously ratified the presidential appointment of Kalaluka as Attorney General. [21] [22] On 8 April 2015,President Edgar Lungu swore him in as the Attorney General. [23]
Currently,Kalaluka is a member of the Law Association of Zambia. After two years of law practice,Kalaluka was elected to the Council of the Law Association of Zambia. He held the position for about 9 years. [19]
The title of State Counsel was automatically conferred on Likando kalaluka when he was appointed Attorney General,because by virtue of office as the AG,Kalaluka is the leader of the Zambian Bar. [24]
Likando Kalaluka SC,as Attorney general,played a pivotal role in the 2016 Presidential Election Petition Case brought to the high court and the Constitutional Court in Lusaka by the losing United Party for National Development UPND candidate Hakainde Hichilema challenging the results which declared Edgar Lungu as winner. As Attorney General,he led the defence of Lungu's victory. Hakainde's challenge failed before the courts and Lungu was sworn in as Zambia's legitimately elected president. [6]

The University boasts of a top academic record for its Law students in 2017 admitted to the bar followed by the University of Zambia. Edgar Chagwa Lungu is a Zambian politician who served as the sixth president of Zambia from 26 January 2015 to 24 August 2021. Under President Michael Sata,Lungu served as Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence. Following Sata's death in October 2014,Lungu was adopted as the candidate of the Patriotic Front in a Convention of the Patriotic Front in Kabwe,for the January 2015 presidential by-election,which was to determine who would serve out the remainder of Sata's term. In the election,he narrowly defeated opposition candidate Hakainde Hichilema and took office on 25 January 2015.

Irene Chirwa Mambilima was the Chief Justice of Zambia from 2015 until her death in 2021. She was also a member of several professional associations including the Zambia Association of Women Judges,the Editorial Board Council of Law Reporting,the Child Fund (Zambia),Women in Law Southern Africa,and the Council of the Institution of Advanced Legal Education.
Fumba Chama,known professionally as Pilato,is a Zambian hip hop recording artist from Ndola. The name Pilato written as pilAto is an acronym for People in Lyrical Arena Taking Over. Born and raised in the Copperbelt province,pilAto commenced his career as a poet at the age of 10,before formally moving into the music industry in 2010,when poetry became his music. The inauguration of Hakainde Hichilema as the 7th president of Zambia was held on 24 August 2021. President-elect Hichilema won by a landslide with over 996,000 votes between him and the Incumbent president Edgar Lungu who got 1,814,201 votes in the August 2021 presidential election. Hakainde Hichilema took the oath alongside Mutale Nalumango as the Vice-president of Zambia. The venue for the inauguration was National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. Attendance was supposed to be restricted to invited guests only due to the Covid-19 preventive protocols,but was later made open to the public resulting in a filled out stadium The day of the inauguration was declared a public holiday in Zambia by president Edgar Lungu.
