Lily Marie Donoghue (born January 19, 1998) is an American actress best known for her role as Marty Coolidge in the Blumhouse horror film Black Christmas (2019), Jamie Weisman in season 5 of the Goldbergs (2022) and Lisa Crowne in the Amazon Prime series Daisy Jones & the Six (2023).

Early life and athletics

Donoghue was born in Texas to businesspeople Michael and Dawn (née Lally) Donoghue, [1] [2] [3] Donoghue was raised in Sarasota, Florida. She has a twin brother, Liam. In her younger years before acting, Donoghue competed as an award-winning national rower for the Sarasota Crew [4] and as a swimmer in the Junior Olympics. [5]

Career

In 2017, Donoghue guest starred in the AMC network series Halt and Catch Fire . From 2017 to 2019 she made guest appearances in Grey's Anatomy , The Goldbergs and Jane the Virgin . After filming Grey's Anatomy , Ellen Pompeo became a mentor to Donoghue. [6]

It was reported in 2018 that Donoghue had been cast in season 2 of the Netflix streaming series Dirty John as Tracy Broderick, a character based on Betty Broderick's daughter, Kim Broderick [7] alongside Christian Slater and Amanda Peet. [8] On August 1, 2018, it was announced Donoghue would lead the Hulu drama pilot, Less Than Zero, an adaptation of Brett Easton Ellis's novel of the same name, [9] though the pilot was not picked up to series. [10]

Donoghue made her feature film debut in 2019 portraying Marty Coolidge in Sophia Takal's Black Christmas reboot with a cast including Imogen Poots, Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O'Grady and Cary Elwes. She has revealed that all four of the primary female leads auditioned for the main role of Riley Stone, which eventually went to Poots. [1] [11] In 2021, she appeared in the independent film Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets.

In 2023, Donoghue co-starred as Lisa Crowne, a comedian members of the band The Six meet on tour, in the Amazon Prime Video streaming drama series Daisy Jones & the Six . [6]

Dirty John is an American true crime anthology television series, based on the podcast of the same name by Christopher Goffard, that premiered on November 25, 2018, on Bravo. Outside the United States, it was made available through Netflix on February 14, 2019. The series was created by Alexandra Cunningham also an executive producer alongside Richard Suckle, Charles Roven, Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen, and Chris Argentieri. The series was initially given an order for two seasons. In May 2019, it was announced that the series will be moving from Bravo to USA Network, ahead of the premiere of the second season.
