Lina Lecaro is an American radio host, DJ, author and journalist. [1] She is best known for her radio shows Lina in LA on Moheak and Hot Licks with Lina on Luxuria Music. [2]

Early life

Lecaro was born and raised in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake, where she attended John Marshall High School. She then studied at LACC for two years before transferring to California State University, Northridge, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. [3]

Silver Lake is a residential and commercial neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California, United States. Originally named Ivanhoe in the 1900s by a resident from Scotland, it was built around what was then a city reservoir which gives the district its name. The "Silver" in Silver Lake is not because of the water's color, but named for a local politician who helped create the reservoir. The area is known for its restaurants and hipster hangouts, and many notable people have made their homes there. The neighborhood has several public and private schools.

John Marshall High School is a public high school located in the Los Feliz district of the city of Los Angeles at 3939 Tracy Street in Los Angeles, California.

Career

Radio hosting and broadcasting

Lecaro began hosting the show Lina in LA on Moheak when Indie 103.1's Todd William offered her a show. [4] She has also made guest appearances on The Michael Des Barres Show, [5] on Los Angeles Nista for Skidrow Studios, [6] and later on Sirius Radio during Coachella 2015.

Indie 103.1 was a commercial radio station in Los Angeles, California with an alternative rock format. It started out as a traditional FM station and went online-only in 2009.

Michael Philip Des Barres, the 26th Marquis Des Barres, is an English actor and rock singer. He is known for playing the recurring role of Murdoc on the television show MacGyver and for replacing Robert Palmer in the band Power Station, fronting the band at the 1985 Live Aid concert.

Dance Party! with Amy Poehler and Amber Tamblyn at The Regent Theater, [9] for the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Celebration, [10] for Goldenvoice presents: Dave Stewart with Lucha VaVOOM at the El Rey Theatre, [11] for Life is Beautiful at Los Globos, [12] for Electric Glitter at the Dragonfly in Hollywood, [13] for The Hangmen and Blackfeather Jane at Loaded, [14] and for the Starcrawlers Summer Residency at Los Globos. Amy Poehler American actress, comedian, director, producer, and writer

Amy Meredith Poehler is an American actress, comedian, director, producer, and writer. After studying improv at Chicago's Second City and ImprovOlympic in the early 1990s, she Co-founded the Chicago-based improvisational-comedy troupe, Upright Citizens Brigade. The group moved to New York City in 1996 where their act became a half-hour sketch comedy series on Comedy Central in 1998. Along with other members of the comedy group, Poehler is a founder of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.

Amber Tamblyn American actress

Amber Rose Tamblyn is an American actress and writer. She first came to national attention in her role on the soap opera General Hospital as Emily Quartermaine, followed by a starring role on the prime-time series Joan of Arcadia, portraying the title character, Joan Girardi for which she received Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her feature film work includes roles such as Tibby Rollins from the first two The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films (2005–2008), as well as Katie Embry in The Ring (2002), Aubrey Davis in The Grudge 2 (2006) and Megan McBride in 127 Hours (2010); she had an extended arc as Martha M. Masters in the medical drama series House. She also had a starring role as Jenny on seasons eleven and twelve of the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.

The Rolling Stones English rock band

The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. The first stable line-up consisted of bandleader Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman (bass), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ian Stewart (piano). Stewart was removed from the official line-up in 1963 but continued to work with the band as a contracted musician until his death in 1985. The band's primary songwriters, Jagger and Richards, assumed leadership after Andrew Loog Oldham became the group's manager. Jones left the band less than a month before his death in 1969, having already been replaced by Mick Taylor, who remained until 1974. After Taylor left the band, Ronnie Wood took his place in 1975 and continues on guitar in tandem with Richards. Since Wyman's departure in 1993, Darryl Jones has served as touring bassist. The Stones have not had an official keyboardist since 1963, but have employed several musicians in that role, including Jack Nitzsche (1965–1971), Nicky Hopkins (1967–1982), Billy Preston (1971–1981), Ian McLagan (1978–1981), and Chuck Leavell (1982–present).

Lecaro is the published author of Los Angeles Best Dive Bars: Drinking and Diving in the City of Angels [17] [18] [19] and co-author of the book Never Mind the Rules: How to Rock at Love, in collaboration with Susan Hyatt. [20]

Lecaro has appeared in the documentary Betty Blowtorch: And Her Amazing True Life Adventures as herself for the Los Angeles Times [21] and was interviewed for the documentary LA Women [22] which profiled pioneering, innovative and compelling Los Angeles-based female artists, philosophers and social entrepreneurs in their own words and contexts. [23]
