Linda Marie Claridge (born August 24, 1959), also known as Linda Hogan, is an American television personality who is the ex-wife of professional wrestler Hulk Hogan. She is best known for her role on the American reality television show Hogan Knows Best .

Early years

Claridge was raised Catholic and is of American, Australian, British and Irish descent. She is the older sister of actress Christie Claridge. [1] In 1977, she graduated from Chatsworth High School in California. [1] She was a winning contestant on Match Game in 1978. [2]

Career

In 1995, Claridge appeared on Hulk Hogan's album Hulk Rules , where she sang back-up vocals along with The Wrestling Boot Band. [3] Claridge entered the spotlight in 2005 as "Linda Hogan", due to the VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best . A 2005 documentary DVD on street racers, called Vehicular Lunatics, includes a segment with Claridge. [4] Claridge wrote a book, Wrestling the Hulk: My Life Against the Ropes, which was published in 2011. [5] She appeared on the Season 3, episode 8 of Bar Rescue .

Personal life

Claridge met Terry Bollea, known professionally as Hulk Hogan, in a restaurant in Los Angeles. For nearly two years, the couple had a long-distance relationship mostly over the telephone.[ citation needed ] They married in 1983 in a wedding attended by André the Giant, Vince McMahon, and other wrestling personalities. They have two children together, Brooke (1988) and Nick (1990). Claridge filed for divorce from Hulk Hogan on November 20, 2007. [6] The divorce was finalized on July 28, 2009. [7] [8] [9]

Claridge received media attention for her relationship with a much younger man, Charlie Hill. Hill proposed to her on an episode of the VH1 reality television show Couples Therapy in 2012. They began dating in 2008, when Claridge was 48 and Hill was 19. [10] [11] [12]

In October 2012, Claridge was arrested in Malibu, California, for driving under the influence, with an alcohol level of 0.084. [13] She pleaded guilty to DUI. She was released several hours later after posting bail of $5,000. [14] [15] [ unreliable source ]

Bollea v. Gawker was a lawsuit filed in 2013 in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, delivering a verdict on March 18, 2016. In the suit, Terry Gene Bollea, known professionally as Hulk Hogan, sued Gawker Media, publisher of the Gawker website, and several Gawker employees and Gawker-affiliated entities for posting portions of a sex tape of Bollea with Heather Clem, at that time the wife of radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge. Bollea's claims included invasion of privacy, infringement of personality rights, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Prior to trial, Bollea's lawyers said the privacy of many Americans was at stake while Gawker's lawyers said that the case could hurt freedom of the press in the United States.

The event was produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on April 2, 2005, from the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, California. The event took place the same weekend as WrestleMania 21. The event was hosted by Gene Okerlund. A condensed version of the ceremony aired that evening on Spike TV, making this ceremony the first to be broadcast on television. In March 2015 the ceremony was added to the WWE Network.

Belzer v. Bollea 150 Misc. 2d 925 is a 1990 New York Supreme Court case between TV presenter Richard Belzer and professional wrestler Hulk Hogan. The case involved Belzer suing Hogan for personal injury after Hogan had put a sleeper hold on him. The case was eventually settled financially out of court; however, the case continued to be heard for the purposes of additional attorney's compensation requested by Belzer's lawyers, which was denied by the court.
