Lindiwe Lasindwa (died 1 August 2021) was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2006 until her death in 2021. A former local councillor in KwaThema, Gauteng, she was also a member of the Provincial Executive Committee of the ANC's Gauteng branch.

Political career

Lasindwa was a ward councillor in KwaThema from 2004 until 2006, when she joined the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. [1] She was re-elected to her first full term in the legislature in the 2009 general election, ranked 33rd on the ANC's provincial party list, [2] and she was elected to her second and third terms, respectively, in 2014 (ranked 28th) and 2019 (ranked 25th). [3]

During her tenure in office, she served stints as Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Petitions [4] and of the Portfolio Committee on Infrastructure Development and Gender, Youth, and People with Disabilities. [5] At the time of her death, she chaired the legislature's Portfolio Committee on Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development. [5] She also served as a member of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Gauteng ANC, having been elected to a four-year term on the committee at a party elective conference in July 2018. [6]

Death

She died on 1 August 2021 after a short illness. [1] [5]

Lindiwe Michelle Maseko is a South African politician who was appointed South African Ambassador to Venezuela in July 2022. She previously served as a Member of the National Assembly from 2014 to 2019 and as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2014; she was Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and was Provincial Treasurer of the ANC in Gauteng from 2001 to 2010.

Nandi Annah Ndalane is a South African politician who has served in the Limpopo Executive Council since 2014 and in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 1999. She is currently serving, since October 2022, as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development.

Lungi Mnganga-Gcabashe is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2014 to 2019. In 2020 she was appointed chief of staff in the office of Pemmy Majodina, the Chief Whip of the Majority Party in the National Assembly. She left the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in the 2019 general election and in 2021 was appointed chairperson of the board of South Africa's Central Drug Authority.

Mauwane Rebecca Phaladi-Digamela is a South African politician, nurse, and academic who currently represents the African National Congress (ANC) in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. Formerly a ward councillor in Gauteng, she was elected to the provincial legislature for the first time in the 2019 general election. In June 2019, she was elected Chairperson of Gauteng's Portfolio Committee on Health, a position which she held throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mapiti David Matsena was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from May 2019 until July 2020, when he was murdered by a former employee. A lawyer by training, Matsena rose to political prominence through the ANC Youth League. From 2011 to 2018, he was the Deputy Regional Chairperson of the ANC in Tshwane, where he was also a local councillor. He was a member of the ANC's Provincial Executive Committee in Gauteng from 2018 until his death.

Zinhle Lindeka Immaculate Cele is a South African politician who was elected to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in the 2019 general election as a member of the African National Congress. In 2020 Cele was elected to chair the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Portfolio Committee in the provincial legislature.

Thokozile Magagula is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since 2011. She entered politics through the trade union movement and from 2003 to 2012 she served as Provincial Secretary of the Gauteng branch of the ANC Women's League.
