LINPRA, established in 1993, is a Lithuanian trade organization for engineering companies, headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. [3] [4] It the largest engineering trade organization in The Baltic States, representing 150 companies. [5] [6]
Lithuania's parliament Seimas consults with Linpra on laws that affect Lithuania's engineering and manufacturing sector. [7] [8] [9]
Linpra represents Lithuanian engineering sector at various international events, conferences and exhibitions. It routinely participates in a number of trade shows including Alihankkija , Elmia Subcontractor, IAA Mobility, Hannover Messe and others. [10] [11] [12] [13]
It also organizes its own domestic and international events – business meetings, knowledge exchanges, conferences, etc. [14] [15] [16] [17] Multiple events and conferences during Balttechnika, the largest technology and engineering exhibition in the Baltic States, are organized by Linpra. [18] [19]
Some Linpra events are specifically aimed at high school and university students, to promote interest in engineering profession. Steam Team, Lithuania's largest engineering competition for high school students, is organized by Linpra. [20] [21]
Irena Degutienė is a Lithuanian politician and member of the conservative Homeland Union. She is currently the Deputy Speaker of Seimas, and was twice the acting Prime Minister of Lithuania, first from 4 May 1999 to 18 May 1999 and then from 27 October 1999 to 3 November 1999. She has also been the Speaker of Seimas from 15 September 2009 to 14 September 2012, as well as Minister for Social Security and Labour from 1996 to 2000. In 1978, she graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in medicine. For almost twenty years, she worked in Vilnius Red Cross Hospital before becoming a secretary in the Ministry of Health in 1994. She was initially elected to Seimas in 1996. Degutienė is the first woman to be Speaker of Seimas in Lithuania's history.
Vytautas Šustauskas was a controversial Lithuanian politician who was leader of the Lithuanian Liberty Union and Union of the Fighters for Lithuania political parties. A self-styled "king of the beggars", he was elected Mayor of Kaunas in 2000 and became a member of the Seimas in the same year. He was known for protests against poverty, inequality, membership in the European Union and NATO, and pride parades.

The Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania is a state-funded research institute in Lithuania dedicated to "the study of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Lithuania; the study of the persecution of local residents by occupying regimes; the study of armed and unarmed resistance to occupying regimes; the initiation of the legal evaluation of the activities of the organisers and implementers of genocide; and the commemoration of freedom fighters and genocide victims." The centre was founded on 25 October 1992 by the Supreme Council of the Lithuanian Republic as the "State Genocide Research Centre of Lithuania". It is a member organisation of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience.
