Liphook United are a long running amateur football club based in Liphook, a village in east Hampshire, England.
A fully accredited club, they are affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association and run 24 sides at various age categories, from Under 7's through to Veterans. The Men's 1st Team play in the Hampshire Premier League.
Liphook FC were founded in 1903 and spent their early days playing friendly fixtures. [1]
After the Great War, the club began playing at the Recreation Ground at London Road and joined the Aldershot League, where they enjoyed plenty of success. [2]
In 1969 Liphook were elected to the Hampshire League and were champions of Division 4 in 1974. The following season they were runners-up in Division 3 - narrowly missing out on the title to BAT Sports (on goal difference), but after finishing midtable in a competitive Division 2 they left the competition in 1976. [3]
The eighties saw a revival, and after twice winning the Aldershot Senior Cup, Liphook returned to the Hampshire League in 1985 and won the Division 3 title. They then finished runners-up in Division 2, finishing behind local rivals Alton Town. Liphook then consolidated in the top-flight before again departing the competition, returning to the Aldershot League. [4]
In June 1999, the club became known as Liphook United after amalgamating with the local youth club of that name. [5]
In 2008 Liphook United became founder members of the Surrey Elite Intermediate League. [6] However, they only played a solitary season (finishing runners-up, again missing out on goal difference) before joining the Hampshire Premier League in 2009 where they since become a force - winning the title three times, the county cup twice and league cup once.
In 2024 they won the Mark Coombs Cup, beating Hartley Wintney Reserves 4-1 in final, played at Aldershot Town FC - avenging a defeat from the previous season.
