Lisa Calan is a Kurdish filmmaker who lost both of her legs in a terrorist attack in Turkey in 2015 by the IS. [1] [2] She has made a short film and has participated in several feature films, documentaries and TV series projects. [3] The artist lost both her legs in the 2015 Amed bombing, in which an Islamic State bomber detonated a bomb at a Democratic People's Party (HDP) rally in Amed on June 5, killing more than 5 people and injuring more than 100. [4] Thereafter, she lived in Ankara for two years, receiving treatment in Germany and Australia. She graduated from the Aram Tigran Film Academy in Amed. In 2016, [5] [6] she worked for Diyarbakır City Council under a contract with the city's Department of Culture and Social Affairs, until the City Council terminated his contract. [6] She also worked at the Amed Middle East Film Academy and participated in several film festivals as a screenwriter. In 2014, she directed the film Zimana Çîya (Language of the Mountains), which emphasizes the assimilation and prohibition of the Kurdish language. He was also the actor in the film Vesarti (Confidential) in 2015, as well as the artistic director.
She was presented the Spirit of Cinema award during the inaugural function of the 26th International Film Festival of Kerala by the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan. [7] [8]

Leyla Zana is a Kurdish politician. She was imprisoned for ten years for her political activism, which was deemed by the Turkish courts to be against the unity of the country. Mukesh Madhavan, known mononymously as Mukesh, is an Indian actor, film producer, television presenter, and politician who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil-language films. In a film career spanning four decades, he has acted in over 275 Malayalam films. His 1996 film Kaanaakkinaavu premiered at the IFFI and won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. The International Film Festival of Kerala is a film festival held annually in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, India. This film festival started in 1996 and is hosted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. The 2015 Diyarbakır rally bombings occurred on 5 June 2015 in Diyarbakır, Turkey, during an electoral rally of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) at 17:55 local time. The bombing took place two days before the June 2015 general election and killed 5 supporters, injuring over 100. A suspect known to be close to ISIL was arrested on June 6 in Gaziantep. By August, suspicions as for the perpetrators had continued to lie on ISIL.
The February2016 Lice bombing occurred on 18 February 2016 in Lice, a city in Diyarbakır Province, Turkey. The bombing consisted of a roadside bomb that killed 6 soldiers and injured another.

The Mothers of Diyarbakır is a group of Kurdish mothers who gather daily for a sit-in protest against the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), demanding the return of their children who allegedly were deceived or kidnapped by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The sit-in takes places outside the Diyarbakır headquarters of the HDP. In contrast to the Saturday Mothers in Istanbul, who also ask for the whereabouts of their relatives and whose protests face oppression from the police, the Mothers of Diyarbakır group are supported by the Turkish police who escort them home in the evenings, and are protected by the local state prosecutor. The pro-government media also support the group.
