Lisa Carlsen is an American women's basketball coach and former basketball player. She is currently the women's basketball head coach at Northern Illinois University. She previously served as the women's basketball head coach at Lewis University and the University of Nebraska Omaha. [1]
Carlson is from Earling, Iowa. [2] She attended Northwest Missouri State University where she played college basketball and was a named all-conference four times. [1] She was named 1992 Champion NCAA Female Athlete of the Year after her senior year. She also played college softball where she earned all-conference and all-region accolades. [2] She earned a bachelor's degree in 1992 and a master's degree in 1994 from Northwest Missouri State. [1] She played basketball professionally in the Women's Basketball Association for three seasons with the Nebraska Express. [2]
Prior to coaching basketball, she was a softball coach at St. Mary (Neb.) from 1994 to 1997 where she was the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year twice. [1] At Wayne State College (Neb.) she was the softball head coach and an assistant volleyball coach from 1997 to 1998. Her overall record as a softball coach was 120–51. [2]
Her first job as a basketball coach was in 1998 as an assistant at Omaha then in NCAA Division II. [3] [1] She was promoted to head coach in 2000 where she remained for four seasons with a record of 36–75. [2]
She was the associate head coach at Winona State for three years before taking the women's basketball head coaching position at Lewis in 2007. [2] In eight seasons at Lewis she posted an overall record of 148–89 with appearances in the NCAA Division II women's basketball tournament and two Great Lakes Valley Conference championships. [4] Her 2015 team went 31–3 and made the Division II Elite Eight. [5] They began the season 23–0. [6] She was named GLVC Coach of the Year and Division II National Coach of the Year. [7] During her tenure with the Flyers the program had a 100 percent graduation rate. [8]
On June 30, 2015 she was named the head coach at Northern Illinois. [9] Through the 2021–22 season her record at the school was 103–105. She led her team to the 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament. [10]

The Summit League, or The Summit, is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic conference with its membership mostly located in the Midwestern United States, from Minnesota in the east, to the Dakotas, Nebraska and Colorado to the West, and Missouri and Oklahoma to the South. Founded as the Association of Mid-Continent Universities in 1982, it rebranded as the Mid-Continent Conference in 1989, then again as the Summit League on June 1, 2007. The league headquarters are in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Portland State Vikings is the nickname of the NCAA-affiliated, intercollegiate athletic teams representing Portland State University of Portland, Oregon. Connie Sue Yori is the former head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball team representing the University of Nebraska in NCAA Division I competition. She formerly coached Loras College from 1990 to 1992 and Creighton from 1992 to 2002. In 2009–10, Yori was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year, AP College Basketball Coach of the Year and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year after guiding Nebraska to a 32–2 record and the school's first-ever trip to the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship Sweet 16.

The Huskies, led by second-year head coach Lisa Carlsen, played their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 21–12, 12–6 in MAC play to finish in a tie for third place in the West division. They defeated Ohio and Western Michigan in the MAC tournament before losing to Toledo in the championship. They received an at-large bid to the WNIT where they lost in the first round to South Dakota State.

They finished the season 15–15, 7–11 in MAC play, to finish in fifth place in the West division. They lost in the first round of the MAC women's tournament to Eastern Michigan.

The Huskies, led by fourth-year head coach Lisa Carlsen, play their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 19–13, 10–8 in MAC play to finish in third place in the West division. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the MAC women's tournament where they lost to Ohio. Despite having 19 wins, they were not invited to a postseason tournament.
Heather Oesterle is a former collegiate basketball player who is currently an assistant coach for the Stanford Cardinal women's basketball team. Previously, she was the head coach of the Central Michigan and the strategic program director of Notre Dame women's basketball teams. Oesterle was named CMU's head women's basketball coach in July, 2019, succeeding her long-time mentor Sue Guevara. Oesterle served for nine seasons on Guevara's staff at CMU, helping lead the program to unprecedented heights including three Mid-American Conference championships, two MAC Tournament titles, and five MAC West Division crowns. She earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Michigan in 2002 and her master's degree in sports studies from Miami in 2008.
