Lisa Lambe (born 1 August 1983) is an Irish singer, actress, songwriter and folklorist. [1] [2] [3]

Acting career

Lambe graduated with a degree in acting from Trinity College Dublin. [4] She was nominated for a Best Actress Award at the Irish Times Theatre Awards for her performance in the lead role of Philomena O Shea in Rough Magic's musical Improbable Frequency. [5] She has been described by the Irish Times as "the finest singer and actor of her generation."

Lambe's theatrical play roles have included Anna Karenina [6] and Johanna in Sweeney Todd at the Gate Theatre; [7] Oonagh in Jimmy's Hall, [8] Lil - written especially for her- in The Country Girls by Edna O'Brien, [9] and Patsy in The Unmanageable Sisters at the Abbey Theatre; [10] Sorcha in Ross O'Carroll-Kelly's The Last Days of the Celtic Tiger , Breaking Dad , Between Foxrock and a Hard Place at the Gaiety Theatre [11] and Nora in A Doll's House at the Helix Theatre. [12] She played the role of 'Fairy' to great acclaim in Hex at the National Theatre in London in late 2022 to early 2023. [13]

She played Elizabeth O'Farrell in The Bloody Irish, written for PBS in 2015. [14]

Music career

Lambe is a featured soloist and performs regularly with Ireland's RTE Concert Orchestra.

She was a member of Celtic Woman from 2010 to 2014 during which time she appeared on the albums: Believe, Home For Christmas, and Emerald: Musical Gems. She also appeared on several compilation albums that were released after her exit.

Her first solo album, Hiding Away, was recorded in Nashville and released in 2015. The single "Heaven" from this album featured some of the members of ALONE Ireland, a charity with which Lambe is affiliated. [15] [16] She released her second solo album, Juniper, in 2020. It was written in Connemara and recorded in Donegal Ireland with producer Karl Odlum, [17] and has been described as "a love letter to nature." [18] [19] Lambe released her third solo album, Wild Red, in November, 2021. Her new album was BBC Radio's album of the week and placed in Goldmine USA Magazine's Top 100 songs of 2021. Lisa Lambe Live was released in 2023.

She is a regular recording artist for many film projects including the soundtrack of Float Like a Butterfly [20] and An Klondike . [21]

Nightvisiting, her new folklore, ballad songs and stories show, toured in 2023.

Anúna is a vocal ensemble formed in Ireland in 1987 by Irish composer Michael McGlynn under the name An Uaithne. Almost all of their repertoire is composed or arranged by McGlynn. Celtic Woman is an all-female Irish musical ensemble. Formed in 2004 for a one-time event held in Dublin, Ireland, they started touring internationally as a group after multiple airings on PBS helped boost the group's popularity.
