Helen Elizabeth Garrett, commonly known as Elizabeth Garrett or Beth Garrett, was an American professor of law and academic administrator. On July 1, 2015, she became the 13th president of Cornell University—the first woman to serve as president of the university. She died from colon cancer on March 6, 2016, the first Cornell president to die while in office.
A provost is a senior academic administrator. At many institutions of higher education, the provost is the chief academic officer, a role that may be combined with being deputy to the chief executive officer. Kim E. Schatzel is an American academic administrator who is the 19th president of the University of Louisville. She joined Eastern Michigan University in January 2012 as provost and executive vice president of academic and student affairs, and became interim president on July 8, 2015, following the resignation of Susan Martin. Schatzel was previously dean of the college of business at University of Michigan–Dearborn. On November 30, 2022, she was announced as the next president of University of Louisville and began her tenure on February 1, 2023.
Rhonda L. Lenton is a Canadian academic administrator and professor. She is the 8th and current president and vice-chancellor of York University in Toronto, Canada, having succeeded Mamdouh Shoukri on 1 July 2017 for a five-year term. She previously served as Dean of Atkinson College and later as York's Vice President Academic and Provost. Prior to her role in academic administration, Lenton was a Professor of Sociology. During her research career, Lenton led randomized public telephone surveys of social issues such as Internet dating, sexual assaults, and continues to examine Judaism in Canada.

Malinda S. Smith is a Canadian political scientist. Previously she served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the State University of New York at Oswego since 2012.
Kim Brooks is a university professor and administrator who currently serves as the President and vice-chancellor of Dalhousie University. She was previously the university's acting Provost and Vice-President Academic, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Management at the university. Prior to this she served as the Dean of the university's Schulich School of Law and as the endowed H. Heward Stikeman Chair in Law of Taxation at the McGill University Faculty of Law.
