Lisbeth Knudsen (born 1953) is a Danish journalist and newspaper editor. After earning a degree in journalism in 1975, she worked in the editorial office of Berlingske Tidende . By 1986, she had become editor of the paper's Sunday edition. Subsequent posts included editor-in-chief of the Social Democratic newspaper Det fri Aktuelt (1993), news director for the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio (1998), editor-in-chief of Berlingske Tidende, and from 2015 director of Altinget and Mandag Morgen . [1] [2] [3] In January 2016, she was appointed chair of the Royal Danish Theatre and has since served on the boards of several other companies and organizations. [4]

Early life and family

Born on 7 June 1953 in the Copenhagen district of Frederiksberg, Lisbeth Knudsen was the daughter of the manufacturer Sven Arne Knudsen and his wife Ruth née Buch. After matriculating from high school, she attended The Danish School of Journalism in Aarhus, graduating in 1975. From 1976, she enjoyed a partnership with the politician Peter Valenius until his death in 2016. [1] [3]

Career

On graduating in 1975, she took up employment at Berlingske Tidende which had contributed to her training. After two years as a reporter, she was promoted to head of the paper's editorial office in Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament. In 1984, she became editor of the business supplement and from 1986 she served as a member of the editorial board. She was appointed editor of the paper's Sunday edition in 1988. [1]

During this period, Knudsen also played an active role in the Danish Union of Journalists where she hoped in 1984 to become chair but lost to the left-wing candidate Tove Hygum Jakobsen. In 1990, she left Berlingske Tidende to join the union-oriented newspaper Det Fri Aktuelt where she became managing director and editor-in-chief in 1993. [1]

In 1998, Knudsen was appointed director of news at Danmarks Radio with responsibility for both radio and television news. As a result of restructuring, the posting was discontinued in 2006. In April 2007, she became editor-in-chief of Berlingske Tidende as well as head of Berlingske Media. She had to retired from the post in 2015 when the Belgian concern De Persgroep acquired the company. [2]

In January 2016, she was appointed chair of the Royal Danish Theatre and has since served on the boards of several other companies and organizations. [4]

Den Store Danske Encyklopædi is the most comprehensive contemporary Danish language encyclopedia. The 20 volumes of the encyclopedia were published successively between 1994 and 2001; a one-volume supplement was published in 2002 and two index volumes in 2003. The work comprises 115,000 articles, ranging in size from single-line cross references to the 130-page entry on Denmark. Det fri Aktuelt was a daily newspaper published in Copenhagen, Denmark, between 1871 and 2001. It was the first socialist and the earliest newspaper published by a labor union in the world. In addition, it was the last major social democrat newspaper in Denmark.

The 1963–64 Danish Cup was the 10th installment of the Danish Cup, the national association football cup competition in Denmark. This year's edition began with the regional qualifying rounds among the lower ranking members of the six regional governing bodies in early May 1963, and concluded with the grand cup final on 7 May 1964. A total of 707 clubs participated in the cup tournament – the highest number of teams since the cup's foundation. 671 teams were registered for the qualifying rounds, of which only 44 teams would quality for the proper rounds, under the auspices of the Danish FA's tournament committee, joined by 36 additional teams from the first, second and third divisions in the Danish football league system.

The 1964 Danish 3rd Division was the twenty-third season of the Danish third-tier association football division since its establishment in 1936 as part of the Danmarksturneringen's nation-wide league structure. Governed by the Danish FA, the season was launched on 26 March 1964 with two fixtures and concluded with the last four matches on 15 November 1964. Skovshoved IF and Hellerup IK entered as relegated teams from last season's second division, while Svendborg fB and Nakskov BK entered as promoted teams from the 1963 Kvalifikationsturneringen. The twelve teams in the division entered the 1964–65 Danish Cup in the cup tournament's first round proper.
