This is a list of player movements for Super Rugby teams prior to the end of the 2018 Super Rugby season. Departure and arrivals of all players that were included in a Super Rugby squad for 2017 or 2018 are listed here, regardless of when it occurred. Future-dated transfers are only included if confirmed by the player or his agent, his former team or his new team.
In addition to the main squad, teams can also name additional players that train in backup or development squads for the franchises.
On 7 July 2017, the South African Rugby Union announced that the Cheetahs (along with the Kings) would no longer participate in Super Rugby, [40] following an earlier decision from SANZAAR to reduce the number of South African teams from six teams to four for 2018. [41] All players moved to the Cheetahs Pro14 team unless otherwise indicated.

Christoffel Johannes van der Linde is a South African former professional rugby union player and currently the scrum coach at French Top 14 side Montpellier. He played first class rugby between 2002 and 2015 in South Africa, Ireland, England and France and also made 75 test matches for South Africa, which included winning the 2007 Rugby World Cup. His usual playing position was prop.
Sarel Petrus Marais is a South African professional rugby union player for the Stormers in Super Rugby and Western Province in the Currie Cup. His position he plays is Fullback.
Gary Jacques van Aswegen is a South African former rugby union player that played as a fly-half throughout his career. He represented Western Province in the domestic Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup competitions between 2010 and 2014 and the Stormers in Super Rugby from 2011 to 2013. He also played for the Eastern Province Kings in 2014 and 2015. He retired after the 2015 season, aged 25.
Demetri Catrakilis is a former South African professional rugby union player for the Southern Kings in the Pro14. He previously played for Premiership side Harlequins, Top 14 side Montpellier in France, for the Stormers and the Southern Kings in Super Rugby, for Western Province in the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup competition and for the UCT Ikey Tigers in the Varsity Cup. His regular playing position is fly-half.
Torsten George van Jaarsveld is a Namibian professional rugby union footballer. He plays mostly as a hooker or flanker. He currently plays for Pro D2 side Stade Montois.
Rosko Shane Specman is a South African rugby union player for the Bulls in Super Rugby, the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup and the Blue Bulls XV in the Rugby Challenge. He played rugby sevens for the South Africa national rugby sevens team between 2014 and 2018 and also played Currie Cup rugby with the Sharks from 2010 to 2012, the Pumas from 2013 to 2015 and the Free State Cheetahs in 2017. His usual position is winger.
Douw Gerbrandt Grobler is a South African rugby union player, who plays for Sharks. His regular position is lock.
Nicolaas Johannes John "Maks" van Dyk is a South African professional rugby union player for Houston Sabercats. His regular position is prop.
In the 2017–18 rugby union season, the Southern Kings participated in the Pro14 competition, their inaugural appearance in the competition after losing their Super Rugby status after the 2017 season. They finished bottom of the seven-team Conference B, winning just one of their 21 matches. Masixole Banda was the team's top scorer in the competition with 40 points, while winger Yaw Penxe was the top try scorer with five tries.
In the 2018–19 rugby union season, the Cheetahs participated in the 2018–19 Pro14 competition, their second appearance since joining the competition in 2017–18. The remained in Conference A of the competition, along with Irish sides Connacht and Munster, Italian side Zebre, Scottish side Glasgow Warriors and Welsh sides Cardiff Blues and Ospreys.
In the 2018–19 rugby union season, the Southern Kings participated in the 2018–19 Pro14 competition, their second appearance since joining the competition in 2017–18. They remained in Conference B of the competition, along with Irish sides Leinster and Ulster, Italian side Benetton, Scottish side Edinburgh and Welsh sides Dragons and Scarlets.
In the 2019–20 rugby union season, the Southern Kings participated in the 2019–20 Pro14 competition, their third appearance since joining the competition in 2017–18. They remained in Conference B of the competition, which in 2019–20 featured Irish sides Connacht and Munster, Italian side Benetton, Scottish side Edinburgh and Welsh sides Cardiff Blues and Scarlets.
Super Rugby Unlocked was a professional rugby union competition played in South Africa from 10 October to 21 November 2020. Sponsored by communications company Vodacom, the tournament replaced the South African component of the incomplete 2020 Super Rugby season that was shut down in March of that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
