The following is a list of Alcorn State Braves basketball head coaches. The Braves have had 14 coaches in their 78-season history. [1]

Alcorn State's current head coach is Landon Bussie. He was hired in April 2020 [2] to replace Montez Robinson, whose contract was not renewed after the prior season. [3]

    Cyrus Walker Alexander III is an American former college basketball head coach who's currently an assistant head coach at Alcorn State and most recently held a head coaching position at North Carolina A&T University, having resigned on January 29, 2016 after 22 games into the 2015–16 season. He was also a longtime men's basketball coach at South Carolina State University. In April 2003, after 16 seasons at SCSU, Alexander moved to coach Tennessee State University. Alexander was fired as coach of TSU in February 2009. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

    Marino H. "The Godfather" Casem was an American college football coach and athletic administrator. He served as the head coach at Alabama State University (1963), Alcorn State University (1964–1985), and Southern University, compiling a career record of 159–93–8. Casem's Alcorn State Braves teams won four black college national championships and seven Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) titles. Casem also served as the athletic director at Alcorn State from 1966 to 1986 and at Southern from 1986 to 1999. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003.

He amassed a total record of 566 wins and 356 losses in 33 seasons of coaching at both institutions.

    James Walter Hopson is an American football coach and former player. In 2016, Hopson made history as the only head coach in the history of the state of Mississippi to guide two different in-state universities to bowl games when he led the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to a victory in the New Orleans Bowl. During his head-coaching tenure with the University of Southern Mississippi (2016–2020), Hopson ushered the Golden Eagles to four straight bowl-eligible seasons, with his defenses and offenses ranking in the top-5 and top-25 in the NCAA, respectively. Additionally, in his four full seasons from 2016 to 2019, Hopson guided the University of Southern Mississippi to 20 conference wins, which made him the second-winningest coach in Conference-USA during that span.

    Luther J. Riley is an American basketball coach. He is the former head coach for Alcorn State University. Before being coach of Alcorn State, he was the coach John W. Provine High School where he won five state championships in eleven seasons.

They finished the season 6–26, 4–14 in SWAC play to finish in ninth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the SWAC tournament where they lost to Texas Southern.

They finished the season 22–8, 10–2 in SWAC. They won the SWAC tournament to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 11 seed in the Midwest region. The Braves fell in the first round to No. 6 seed Houston, 94–84.

The Braves, led by head coach Davey Whitney, played their home games at the Davey Whitney Complex and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 23–7, 14–2 in SWAC play to win the conference regular season. They also won the SWAC tournament to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament – the program's first appearance in 15 seasons. The Braves were defeated by No. 2 seed Stanford, 69–57.

    The 2023–24 Alcorn State Braves basketball team represented Alcorn State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Braves, led by fourth-year head coach Landon Bussie, played their home games at the Davey Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 14–18, 13–5 in SWAC play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the SWAC Tournament, they lost to Alabama A&M in the quarterfinals.
