Winter Olympic Games Major international sporting event

The Winter Olympic Games is a major international multi-sport event held once every four years for sports practiced on snow and ice. The first Winter Olympic Games, the 1924 Winter Olympics, were held in Chamonix, France. The modern Olympic Games were inspired by the ancient Olympic Games, which were held in Olympia, Greece, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894, leading to the first modern Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 1896. The IOC is the governing body of the Olympic Movement, with the Olympic Charter defining its structure and authority.

Olympic Council of Asia organization

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees. The current president is Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah. The oldest NOCs are from Japan and the Philippines, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1911; whereas East Timor is the newest, joining in 2003. The headquarters of the OCA is located at Kuwait City.

2007 Asian Winter Games

The 6th Asian Winter Games were held in Changchun, People's Republic of China from January 28 to February 4, 2007. The Winter Games are a celebration of Winter sports in Asia. This is the second time that China hosted the Winter Asian Games; the first was in Harbin in 1996.

Ice hockey at the 1996 Asian Winter Games took place in the city of Harbin, China. The spot for the North Korea team, which did not participate, was filled with Kazakhstan's entry into this Winter Asiad. This edition also marks the introduction of women's ice hockey event to the Winter Asian Games.

Figure skating at the 2003 Asian Winter Games took place in the Aomori Prefectural Skating Rink located in Aomori City, Japan with four events contested.

Figure skating was featured as part of the 2007 Asian Winter Games at the Changchun Wuhuan Gymnasium in Changchun, China. Events were held from 1 February to 3 February 2007. Skaters competed in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies singles, pairs, and ice dance.

Figure skating has been contested at the Asian Winter Games since 1986. It was not included in 1990 because of conflicting with 1990 World Figure Skating Championships.

Speed skating has been featured as a sport in the Asian Winter Games since the first winter games in 1986.

Japan at the Paralympics

Absent at the inaugural Paralympic Games in 1960 in Rome, Japan made its Paralympic début by hosting the 1964 Games in Tokyo. The country has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, and in every edition of the Winter Paralympics since the first in 1976. It has hosted the Paralympic Games twice, with Tokyo hosting the 1964 Summer Games, and Nagano the 1998 Winter Paralympics.The next Summer Paralympics in 2020 will be held again in Tokyo. Japan is represented by the Japan Paralympic Committee.

Figure skating at the 2011 Asian Winter Games figure skating competition

Figure skating was featured as part of the 2011 Asian Winter Games at the Kazakhstan Sports Palace in Astana, Kazakhstan. Events were held on between the third and fifth of February 2011. Skaters competed in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance.

2017 Asian Winter Games

The 2017 Asian Winter Games was the 8th edition of the Asian Winter Games. They were hosted in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan. These Games were originally scheduled for 2015, however, in the Olympic Council of Asia's general assembly in Singapore on 3 July 2009, the committee decided to move the Games to one year before the Winter Olympics moving forward. The games began on 19 February with the opening ceremony and ended with the closing ceremony on 26 February.

Noh Seon-yeong South Korean speed skater

Noh Seon-yeong is a South Korean speed skater who holds the national record for the women's long track speed skating 1500 metres. She represented her country at four Winter Olympic Games.

Kim Bo-reum South Korean speed skater

Kim Bo-reum is a South Korean speed skater. She is the current South Korean record holder in the women's long track speed skating 3000 and 5000 metres. She is a two-time Olympian and specialises in the women's mass start.

Figure skating at the 2017 Asian Winter Games was held in Sapporo, Japan between 23–26 February at the Makomanai Ice Arena. A total of four events were contested: men's and women's singles, pairs and ice dancing. China finished first in medal table, winning two gold medals.

India is scheduled to compete in the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from February 19 to 26.

Indonesia mens national ice hockey team

The Indonesian national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Indonesia and has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Indonesia is currently not ranked in the IIHF World Ranking and have not entered in any World Championship tournaments or at any Olympic Games, but have played in the Challenge Cup of Asia, a regional tournament for lower-tier hockey nations in Asia.
