This is a list of people who have umpired in the Australian Football League (AFL), formerly the VFL.
As of 2007,[ needs update ] there have been a total of 1,249 umpires to have umpired at VFL/AFL Level (408 field umpires, 523 boundary umpires and 318 goal umpires). The first field umpire to be appointed to a match was Henry "Ivo" Crapp, the first boundary umpire was Chris Carriss, and the first goal umpire was F. J. Burton.
There have been three female umpires to have officiated at VFL/AFL level: Katrina Pressley and Chelsea Roffey (both Queensland-based goal umpires) and Eleni Glouftsis (field umpire).

The match was played to determine the premiers for the 1898 VFL season. Fitzroy won the match by 15 points. The game was played under atrocious ground conditions in front of 16,538 people at the Junction Oval.
The 1975 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the North Melbourne Football Club and the Hawthorn Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 27 September 1975. It was the 78th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1975 VFL season. The match, attended 110,551 spectators, was won by North Melbourne by a margin of 55 points, marking that club's first premiership victory. In doing so, they became the last of the 12 VFL teams to win a flag, 50 years after their debut season. The last time North had won a flag prior to that was back in 1918 when they were part of the Victorian Football Association.
Roland Roy Allen was an Australian rules football player and umpire. He played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He umpired as a field, boundary and goal umpire on the VFL list of umpires. Allen was also a cricketer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Cricket Association. He was the second former VFL player to reach 100 years of age.
Glenn Robert JamesOAM is a former Australian rules football umpire in the Victorian Football League. James umpired the 1982 and 1984 VFL Grand Finals and is recognised as the only Indigenous Australian to umpire VFL or AFL football.
Henry "Harry" Crapp, commonly known as Ivo Crapp, was a leading Australian rules football field umpire in the Victorian Football League (VFL) at its formation in the 1890s, and with the West Australian Football League across the late 1900s and early 1910s.
The 2014 AFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Sydney Swans and the Hawthorn Football Club at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 27 September 2014. It was the 119th annual grand final of the Australian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 2014 AFL season. The match, attended by 99,460 spectators, was won by Hawthorn by a margin of 63 points, marking the club's second consecutive premiership and twelfth VFL/AFL premiership victory overall. Hawthorn's Luke Hodge was awarded the Norm Smith Medal as the best player on the ground.
