This is a list of currently active treaties that the Government of Australia has entered into since the federation of Australia in 1901. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in conjunction with the Australasian Legal Information Institute, has published an online Australian Treaties Database from where this list is obtained and updated.
No substantial treaty has been entered into between the government of Australia and the Indigenous people of Australia. [1] [2] Some prior treaties exist in pockets, such as Batman's Treaty, but these are not substantial government treaties, i.e. treaties between the Government of the day and the traditional custodians of the land.[ further explanation needed ]
Foreign diplomatic relations between Australia and India are well-established, with both nations sharing a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" since both were part of the British Empire. Both are members of the Commonwealth of Nations, and share political, economic, security, lingual and sporting ties. Besides strong trading & migration, culture, arts, music, commercial & international sports like cricket, tennis, badminton have emerged as a strong cultural connection between the two nations. Military cooperation between Australia and India includes the regular joint naval exercise AUSINDEX.

The Australia-Solomon Islands Bilateral Security Treaty is a treaty between Australia and the Solomon Islands. The treaty was signed in 2017 and came into force in 2018. The treaty replaces the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) treaty which expired in 2017 when Australian personnel were withdrawn.
