A list of the richest people in Australia is compiled by both Forbes Asia magazine and by The Australian Financial Review . The lists assess the net worth of individuals and are published on an annual basis in February and May respectively.

The Australian Financial Review is an Australian business and finance newspaper published by Nine six days a week. The Financial Review is informally referred to as the Fin or the Fin Review. Its satellite publications include Financial Review Smart Investor, Financial Review Asset and BRW. Financial Review Sunday—a TV program developed in partnership with the Nine Network—launched on 5 May 2013. Two inserted monthly magazines come with the newspaper: the Financial Review Magazine and Financial Review BOSS.

Net worth is the value of all the non-financial and financial assets owned by an institutional unit or sector minus the value of all its outstanding liabilities. Since financial assets minus outstanding liabilities equal net financial assets, net worth can also be conveniently expressed as non-financial assets plus net financial assets. Net worth can apply to companies, individuals, governments or economic sectors such as the sector of financial corporations or to entire countries.

John Gandel, an Australian businessman, property developer and philanthropist, made his fortune in the development of commercial real estate as well as shopping centres located in Melbourne, Victoria.

Anthony Joseph Pratt, an Australian businessman and billionaire, is the Executive Chairman of Visy Industries and Pratt Industries in America, which is the world’s largest privately owned packaging and paper company. According to the Financial Review Rich List 2019, Pratt and his family have a net worth of A$15 billion. Forbes assessed Pratt's net worth in 2019 at US$6.8 billion; listing his sisters' wealth independently.

The World's Billionaires is an annual ranking by documented net worth of the wealthiest billionaires in the world, compiled and published in March annually by the American business magazine Forbes. The list was first published in March 1987. The total net worth of each individual on the list is estimated and is cited in United States dollars, based on their documented assets and accounting for debt. Royalty and dictators whose wealth comes from their positions are excluded from these lists. This ranking is an index of the wealthiest documented individuals, excluding and ranking against those with wealth that is not able to be completely ascertained.

Michael Cannon-Brookes is an Australian billionaire, the co-founder and co-CEO of the software company Atlassian. Cannon-Brookes often carries the epithet of accidental billionaire after he and his business partner Scott Farquhar founded Atlassian with the simple aim of replicating the then-typical graduate starting salary of A$48,000 at the big corporations without having to work for someone else.

David Hains is an Australian businessman and horse breeder.

Lloyd Stanley Perron was an Australian businessman and philanthropist.

Blair Parry-Okeden, a US-citizen, is a billionaire heiress and, according to Forbes Asia, was Australia's richest person by net worth in 2016. Parry-Okeden is an heiress to the Cox Enterprises.

The Financial Review Rich List 2019 is the 36th annual survey of the 200 wealthiest people resident in Australia, published by The Australian Financial Review on 31 May 2019.

The Financial Review Rich List 2018 is the 35th annual survey of the wealthiest people resident in Australia, published by The Australian Financial Review on 25 May 2018.
