The per capita income in Uganda in 1999 was approximately US$650 annually. [1] In 2013, an estimated 19.5 percent of the 35 million Ugandans lived on less than US$1.00 per day. [1] [2]

Patrick Bitature is a Ugandan businessman, entrepreneur and author. He is the second wealthiest Ugandan after Sudhir Ruparelia. He is the founder, chairman and Group CEO of the Simba Group of Companies which is primarily based in East Africa. The Simba Group of Companies started in 1998 with the flagship telecom business but has since grown to a conglomerate of East Africa-based companies spanning telecoms, properties, power generation, agro-business, mining, tourism and media. At the end of 2011, the group employed over 600 direct staff and 1,500 indirect staff.

Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige,, commonly known as BMK, was a Ugandan businessman, entrepreneur, and hotel owner. According to a 2012 published report, he was one of the wealthiest people in Uganda.

Richard Patrick Byarugaba is a Ugandan business executive, banker, and entrepreneur. He is the former managing director and chief executive officer of the National Social Security Fund (Uganda), a semi-autonomous retirement pension organisation for non-government employees in Uganda. He served in that capacity from November 2017 until November 2022. He was also listed in 2012 as one of the wealthiest individuals in Uganda.

Victoria University Uganda (VUU), also known as Victoria University Kampala, is a chartered University by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). It offers short, professional, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Prof. Sir Gordon Babala Kasibante Wavamunno, often simply referred to as Gordon Wavamunno, is a Ugandan entrepreneur, businessman, and philanthropist. He is the owner of Spear Motors Uganda—the sole distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Uganda. He also owns other companies like GM Tumpeco which makes Ugandan Vehicle number plates, Wavah Water Limited and Wavah Books Limited. He was the director for WBS Television and is reported to be one of the wealthiest people in Uganda. He also served as the honorary consul of Hungary to Uganda.

The Speke Resort and Conference Centre is a hotel-resort-conference-centre in Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community. It is one of the five 4-star hotels in Kampala, as rated by the Uganda Tourism Board in June 2015.

Karim Hirji is a Ugandan businessman, hotel owner and entrepreneur. He is reported to be one of the wealthiest individuals in Uganda, with an estimated net worth of about US$800 million.

Charles Hamya is a Ugandan businessman. He was the managing director of MultiChoice Uganda Limited, a digital communications network provider, until his resignation in January 2019. He is reported to be one of the country's wealthiest individuals. He also served on the board of directors of Uganda Airlines from May 2019 to 2022 when the board was suspended amid reports of underperformance, abuse of office and financial mismanagement. He resigned from Uganda Airlines board in January 2022 after being cleared of any wrongdoing by the shareholders.

James Mulwana, was a Ugandan businessman. He was the Group chairman and chief executive officer of the Mulwana Groupof Companies, a diverse business conglomerate with interests in dairy farming, plastics, manufacturing, and real estate. From 1992 until his death in 2013, Mulwana served as a non-executive director on the board of directors of Standard Chartered Uganda, the second-largest commercial bank in the country, by assets. From 1998 until 2013, he was the chairman of that board. At the time of his death, he was listed as one of the wealthiest individuals in Uganda.

Elvis Sekyanzi, also known as Elvis Sekyanzi Wavamunno, is a businessman, entrepreneur and qualified sound engineer in Uganda. In 2012, he was reported to be one of the wealthiest Ugandans.

Crescent Baguma, also known as Amooti Crescent Baguma and Baguma Crescent Rusoke, was a businessman in Uganda. He reportedly was one of the wealthiest individuals in that country in 2012.

Godfey Kirumira, also known as Godfrey Kirumira Kalule, is a Ugandan businessman. According to a 2012 published report, he is one of the wealthiest people in Uganda.

Ponsiano Ngabirano is a businessman and entrepreneur in Uganda. He is the founder, chairman and managing director of Capital Shoppers Supermarkets, a chain of supermarket stores, which he partly owns. The stores in the chain are based in Kampala, Uganda. In 2012, the New Vision newspaper listed him among the wealthiest individuals in Uganda.

Ibrahim Kironde Kabanda, is a businessman and entrepreneur in Uganda. He is a former chairman of the Uganda Revenue Authority, having served in that position from 2004 until 2010.

Mohammed Alibhai is a businessman in Uganda. According to a 2007 published report in the New Vision newspaper, he was one of the wealthiest individuals in Uganda.
