The Arg-e Bam, located in the city of Bam, Kerman province of southeastern Iran, is the largest adobe building in the world. The entire building was a large fortress containing the citadel, but because the citadel dominates the ruins, the entire fortress is now named Bam Citadel.
A bazaar or souk is a marketplace consisting of multiple small stalls or shops, especially in the Middle East, the Balkans, Central Asia, North Africa and South Asia. They are traditionally located in vaulted or covered streets that have doors on each end and served as a city's central marketplace.
A caravanserai was an inn that provided lodging for travelers, merchants, and caravans. Depending on the region and period, they were called by a variety of names including khan, funduq and wikala. Caravanserais supported the flow of commerce, information, and people across the network of trade routes covering Asia, North Africa and Southeast Europe, most notably the Silk Road. In the countryside, they were typically built at intervals equivalent to a day's journey along important roads, where they served as a kind of staging post. Urban versions of caravanserais were historically common in cities throughout the Islamic world, where they could serve as inns, depots, and venues for conducting business.
Navoiy is a city and the capital of Navoiy Region in the central part of Uzbekistan. Administratively, it is a district-level city, that includes the urban-type settlement Tinchlik. It is located at latitude 40° 5' 4N; longitude 65° 22' 45E, at an altitude of 382 meters. The city is named after Alisher Navoiy. As of 2024, its population was 161,300 inhabitants.

Paykend or Poykent, an ancient city in Uzbekistan, is located in the lower stream of Zarafshan River and was one of the largest cities of the Bukhara oasis. The Armenian Monastic Ensembles of Iran is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan provinces in Iran. The site comprises three groups of Armenian churches that were established between the 7th and 16th centuries A.D.
Sheikh Safi al-Din Khānegāh and Shrine Ensemble is the tomb of Sheikh Safi-ad-din Ardabili located in Ardabil, Iran. In 2010, it was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Complex of Izadkhast is located in Izadkhast in the Fars province of Iran, roughly 135 km south of Isfahan. It is a historical complex listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The complex consists of the Izad-khast Castle and old ruined town, the Izadkhast Caravanserai roadside inn, and a Safavid-period bridge. The complex is located on a natural base with the castle built on a bedrock to protect it from foreign attacks. The architecture of the complex displays unique characteristics to Izadkhast.

It was a caravanserai or roadside inn on the ancient Silk Road, serving caravaners and travelers as a place for rest and recovery during long journeys. It is situated in the historical complex of Izadkhast, lying in a natural low basin looking onto the Izadkhast Castle situated in the nearby high bedrock. Its construction dates to the early 17th century during the reign of Shah Abbas.
In 2006 Isfahan was named Cultural Capital of the Islamic world, by the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Isfahan is the home of several UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. The Naqsh-e Jahan Square was built in the early 16th century when Isfahan was the capital of the Safavid empire, and it was one of the first sites in Iran to be inscribed on the World Heritage list, in 1979, and the Jameh Mosque of Isfahan was designated a World Cultural Heritage site in 2012. In addition, the Chehel Sotoun Palace in Isfahan is one of the nine sites around Iran that is part of the World Cultural Heritage site Persian gardens, inscribed on the list in 2011.
The Persian Caravanserai is a UNESCO World Heritage site composed of 54 different caravanserais. It was inscribed in 2023. Caravanserais were roadside inns, which would provide shelter to travelers.
Sa'in Caravanserai is a caravanserai located 10 kilometers along the old road from Nir County to Sarab in the northwest of Iran. Sa'in Caravanserai is placed in a snowy and cold pass known as Sa'in. The caravanserai dates back to the Safavid era, built on the orders of Shah Abbas I, with architecture suitable for this region, which is one of the snowiest passes in Iran. Unlike the typical architecture of the Safavid period, this caravanserai was constructed with stone, indicating the significant importance of this route during that time, especially given its location in a high and snowy pass.
