<span class="mw-page-title-main">The Chieftains</span> Irish folk band

The Chieftains are a traditional Irish folk band formed in Dublin in 1962, by Paddy Moloney, Seán Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their sound, which is almost entirely instrumental and largely built around uilleann pipes, has become synonymous with traditional Irish music. They are regarded as having helped popularise Irish music around the world. They have won six Grammy Awards during their career and they were given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Some music experts have credited The Chieftains with bringing traditional Irish music to a worldwide audience, so much so that the Irish government awarded them the honorary title of 'Ireland's Musical Ambassadors' in 1989.

Andrea Jane Corr is an Irish musician and actress. Corr debuted in 1990 as the lead singer of the Celtic folk rock and pop rock group The Corrs along with her three elder siblings Caroline, Sharon and Jim. Aside from singing lead vocals, Corr plays the tin whistle, the mandolin, the ukulele and the piano.

Talk on Corners is the second studio album by Irish family pop rock band The Corrs. It was released on 17 October 1997 by 143, Lava and Atlantic Records. Preceded by lead single "Only When I Sleep", which became a top ten hit internationally, the album was an immediate commercial success in several territories, including Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Its commercial performance elsewhere was initially modest, however.

"I Never Loved You Anyway" is a song by Irish band the Corrs, released in December 1997 as the second single from their second album, Talk on Corners (1997). The music was written by the band with Carole Bayer Sager, who also wrote the lyrics alongside Andrea Corr. The song became a top-50 hit in Australia and the United Kingdom, as well as on the Canadian RPM Adult Contemporary chart. The track earned producer David Foster a nomination for Producer of the Year at the 1999 Juno Awards.

"Would You Be Happier?" is a single by Irish band the Corrs, taken from their greatest hits album Best of The Corrs (2001). The song was first released in Australia on 1 October 2001 and was issued in Europe later the same month. The single reached number 10 in New Zealand and number 14 in the United Kingdom, becoming a top-40 hit in several other countries as well. In the United States, a live version of the track was released in March 2002 and charted within the Billboard Adult Contemporary top 40.

"Summer Sunshine" is a song by Irish band the Corrs, the opening track from their fourth studio album, Borrowed Heaven (2004). The song was released as the album's first single on 17 May 2004, reaching number 12 in the band's native Ireland and number six on the UK Singles Chart. In Hungary, "Summer Sunshine" peaked at number one for two weeks. Elsewhere, the song reached number two in Spain and peaked within the top 20 in Australia, Italy, and the Netherlands. The music video was directed by Kevin Godley.

"Rebel Heart" is an instrumental by the Irish folk group The Corrs, taken from their third album In Blue (2000). It is influenced by Celtic music, featuring violin and tin whistle. It was composed by violinist Sharon Corr, and was recorded specifically for the BBC Northern Ireland four-part series, Rebel Heart (2001), and the band subsequently decided to use it as album closer for the In Blue album. In January 2001, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.

"Toss the Feathers" is a traditional Irish folk tune. It exists in several variations and in different keys, the most common being D Mixolydian and E Dorian. The tune has been adapted in over 200 modern compilations, including both traditional versions by individuals like Joe Cooley, Tony MacMahon, Mike "Razz" Russell and groups such as The Chieftains, and rock renditions such as that by The Corrs on their album Forgiven, Not Forgotten. Horslips adapted the core melody in their song Sword of Light.

Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill is an acclaimed Irish traditional singer, keyboard player, and composer. She is considered one of the most influential female vocalists in the history of Irish music. Throughout her career, Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill has worked with renowned traditional Irish groups such as Skara Brae, The Bothy Band, and Nightnoise. In February 2024 it was announced that she was to be recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 6th RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Talk on Corners World Tour</span> 1997–99 concert tour by the Corrs

The Talk on Corners Tour is the second concert tour by Irish band the Corrs. Beginning in November 1997, the tour supported the band's second studio album, Talk on Corners. To date, it is their longest tour, with over 150 dates across Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and North America. The tour began with the band performing in theatres and nightclubs and, as the record’s success grew, progressed to arenas and amphitheatres, along with the group’s usual appearances at a variety of international music festivals.

"My Lagan Love" is a song to a traditional Irish air, first collected in 1903 in northern County Donegal.
