This is a list of episodes of the Genesis of Aquarion anime series, produced by studio Satelight and directed by Shoji Kawamori with music compositions by Yoko Kanno. The series was broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo between April 4, 2005, and September 26, 2005, and is available online in English on Funimation Channel.

Two pieces of music were used as opening themes, " Genesis of Aquarion " (創聖のアクエリオン, Sōsei no Aquarion) for the first seventeen episodes and "Go Tight!" for episode eighteen onwards, performed by AKINO. Three pieces of music were used as ending themes, "Omna Magni" (オムナ マグニ, "I Can Fly"), by Yui Makino, "Kōya no Heath" (荒野のヒース, "The Heath of the Wasteland"), by AKINO and "Celiane" by Gabriela Robin.

12,000 years after their last clash with mankind, the Shadow Angels return to attack the human cities and kidnap its inhabitants. Looking for the reincarnation of Apollonius, a Shadow Angel who turned against his own kind to protect the humans, Silvia de Alisia has an encounter with Apollo, a reckless and animalistic orphan who somehow manages to unlock the true potential of mankind's greatest weapon, the Mechanical Angel Aquarion.

After the last battle, Apollo is brought against his will to the headquarters of DEAVA, the organization responsible to confront the Shadow Angels with Aquarion. While wondering if Apollo is actually the reincarnation of Apollonius, the members of DEAVA are attacked by the Holy Angel Toma, one of the Shadow Angels who also wants to confirm if it is true.

Determined to rescue his friend Baron who was captured by the Shadow Angels, Apollo starts attending DEAVA's school for Elements. He has a hard time trying to get along with his classmates, especially Silvia, until the Shadow Angels launch another attack.

Apollo decides to flee the academy to look for Baron himself. Fudo assembles the other Elements to bring him back, until they must once again join forces to confront another enemy attack.

The Shadow Angels use one of their agents to put children around the world to sleep endlessly while it drains their prana for them, to face the new threat, the Elements are put to sleep to confront the enemy in the dream world where it resides.

The Warrior Angel Moroha, another of the Shadow Angels, confronts Aquarion and easily defeats it, but leaves before dealing the killing blow as he knows Toma has other plans for it. To get their revenge on him for hurting Silvia, Apollo and Sirius put aside their differences and join forces against Moroha when he attacks again.

Hong "Reika" Lihua blames herself for the event that put her and Sirius' friend Glen Anderson in a coma. Her Element powers, able to bring misfortune to her and those close to her, causes her a lot of grief, until she learns to make good use of them in their following battle.

The researchers at DEAVA recover a mysterious feather dated from 12,000 years before. After learning of it, Apollo and Silvia sneak into the lab where the feather is and upon touching it, they have visions of the past involving Apollonius and his human lover Celiane.

Toma and his partner, the Music Angel Otoha, launch an attack on DEAVA together to retrieve the feather. During the battle, Apollo manages to finally re-encounter Baron under Toma's mercy, just to witness his friend's death when the cage he is imprisoned explodes, much to his despair.

The Shadow Angels send an invisible enemy that proves himself more than a match for the Elements. Apollo joins the fight, but he and his vector vanishes and Silvia starts realizing her feelings for him and uses them to bring him back.

Element Pierre Vieira enters in a dangerous state after he learns that his former girlfriend Esperanza is about to get married, thus he is temporarily forbidden to pilot Aquarion. Soon after, the Shadow Angels launch an attack on Pierre's hometown and upon learning that his comrades are having a hard time fighting to protect it, he regains his composure and joins the fight to protect his family and friends.

The Shadow Angels launch a special microbe that devours all of DEAVA's food supply. After a week of hunger and under enemy siege, Silvia, Tsugumi and Reika decide to fight back when they realize that not out of concern for their lives, but for their body shapes as well.

Fudo holds an exercise with the Elements impersonating each other with hilarious consequences. Soon a enemy mimicking Aquarion's appearance and powers appears, and still under influence of the exercise, they have a hard time fighting as they used to until they finally learn to bring forth the true power of their own personalities.

The Elements are drawn into a strange illusionary world and while trying to escape from it, Sirius is approached by Toma who claims he hides his true self from the others, while Apollo is confronted with his feelings over Baron's loss.

The Child Angel Futaba, the youngest among the Shadow Angels, launches an attack on Aquarion, only to be captured by the military. The Elements and the Shadow Angels hear in their minds Futaba's screams as the military scientists experiment on him, much to Toma's anger.

During Toma's next attack, he exposes to the other elements the truth about Silvia and Sirius' origins. Taking advantage of their shock over his revelation, Toma manages to convince Sirius to abandon his friends and join the Shadow Angels' side.

The Elements have a hard time trying to cope with Sirius' defection, but it does not take long for him to appear before them again, now as an enemy.

The Elements' fight against Sirius is interrupted by the military, who dispatches a new fighting machine modeled on Aquarion piloted by Glen, who recovered by having some of Futaba's feathers implanted on him. Sirius tries to convince Silvia to abandon the humans and join the Shadow Angels just like he did, but Apollo intervenes to dissuade her.
24"Heaven's Gate"

A mysterious snow covers the entire globe, turning people into plants. Silvia and Apollo have some quality time together until they are interrupted by Sirius who kidnaps Silvia. The snow starts infiltrating the DEAVA base, forcing the Elements to board Aquarion and fight back.

Both Aquarion and the military manage to reach the Shadow Angels' base at Atlantis. Toma manages to restrain Aquarion and reveals the truth about the reincarnations of Apollonius and Celiane, before trying to kill both Silvia and Sirius.

Toma's plan to renew the Tree of Life using Aquarion fails. When the tree starts collapsing, the whole world starts tearing itself apart. Apollo, Sirius and Toma board Aquarion and sacrifice themselves to save the planet, but not before Apollo declares his love for Silvia, promising to reunite with her in 12,000 years.

Set in the future, a giant fighting machine called the Aquarion is humanity's only effective weapon in the fight against the technologically advanced species called the Shadow Angels. Aquarion was broadcast on TV Tokyo from April 4 to September 26, 2005. An alternate retelling of the television series, the Genesis of Aquarion OVA, premiered on May 25, 2007. The television series is licensed in North America by Funimation. On April 27, 2009, the series made its North American television debut on the Funimation Channel. Yui Makino Japanese actress, singer, and pianist

Yui Makino is a Japanese actress, voice actress, singer, and pianist. She is best known for her work in the anime Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle where she voices Sakura and some of the theme songs for the Aria anime series. She is associated with Amuse, Inc. One of her earliest voice acting performances was the character "Sister" in a short-anime movie Bavel no Hon when she was 10. She married singer Yutaro Miura in 2020.

Hiroshi Ōnogi is a Japanese screenwriter and novelist focusing on anime productions.

Satelight Inc. is a Japanese animation studio.
Aside from several stand-alone projects, the studio is well known for producing the Aquarion and Symphogear franchises, as well as later installments of the Macross franchise. The company's Representative Director is Michiaki Satō. Noted anime director and creator Shōji Kawamori is a Special Adviser at the studio. The name Satelight consists of S for Sapporo, A for Animate, T for Technology and E for Entertainment.

Genesis of Aquarion is an OVA series created and directed by Shoji Kawamori and produced by Satelight studio. It is an alternative retelling of the Genesis of Aquarion television series, divided into two parts, Genesis of Aquarion: Wings of Betrayal and Genesis of Aquarion: Wings of Glory. Mayn Singer

Mei Nakabayashi, better known by her stage name May'n, is a Japanese singer from Nagoya. Aspiring to become a musician since childhood, she began her music activities in 2003 upon passing an audition held by talent agency Horipro International. She made her major debut in 2005 under the Universal Music label with the release of her first single "Crazy Crazy Crazy". She would release two more singles under Universal Music, before transferring to Victor Entertainment in 2008. That same year, she had her break as the singing voice of the character Sheryl Nome in the anime series Macross Frontier.

Akino Kawamitsu, better known by her stage name AKINO, is an American-born Japanese pop singer, from Utah and Mesa, Arizona.

Genesis of Aquarion (song)

"Genesis of Aquarion" is the first opening theme of the anime series of the same name. Composed by Yoko Kanno, the song was originally performed by AKINO. After its release and subsequent re-release for the Genesis of Aquarion pachinko game, it became very popular in Japan and was awarded the silver medal in the JASRAC awards for 2008. Its initial release resulted in a peak at #22 on the Oricon's weekly charts. The song is also popular in the Japanese Internet communities, having been included in several of the Kumikyoku Nico Nico Douga mashups, particularly its chorus which begins with "All this time these twelve-thousand years, I know I've been in love with you".

Go Tight! 2005 single by AKINO

"Go Tight!" is the second single from AKINO, produced and composed by Yoko Kanno. The title track is used as the second opening theme of the anime Genesis of Aquarion and an insert song of the sequel Aquarion Evol. "Go Tight!" peaked at #18 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and charted for seven weeks. Gabriela Robin is credited as the lyricist for "Omna Magni" and "Esperança!". A version of the title track as sung by some of the cast members of the series is featured as a B-side on the digital re-release of "Genesis of Aquarion".

<i>Lost in Time</i> (Akino album) 2007 studio album by AKINO from bless4

Lost in Time is the debut album of AKINO performing under the name "AKINO from bless4". The album comprises all of the songs she performed for the anime series Genesis of Aquarion as well as the theme song for Ōban Star-Racers. It peaked at No. 25 on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart.

The Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise has had various soundtracks, remix albums and compilations released around it. The franchise has sold more than 9 million albums and singles.

<i>Aquarion Evol</i>

Aquarion Evol is the sequel to the 2005 anime series Genesis of Aquarion. It was originally announced on February 25, 2011, by the production staff. It aired on TV Tokyo from January to June, 2012 and its premiere featured an hour-long special that combined the first two episodes in a single broadcast. Funimation has licensed the anime in North America.

Kimi no Shinwa ~ Aquarion Dai 2 Shou 2012 single by AKINO with bless4

"Kimi no Shinwa ~ Aquarion Dai 2 Shou" is the third single by American-born Japanese recording artist AKINO. It is the first single that also features her brothers Akashi and Aiki and sister Kanasa, backing her up as their band bless4. It is used as the opening theme of the anime Aquarion Evol, the sequel to Genesis of Aquarion for which AKINO also performed the theme songs. On her blog, AKINO described the song as having gospel stylings. The single's B-side "Gekkō Symphonia" serves as Evol's ending theme and is a duet between AKINO and her younger brother AIKI. AKINO described it as a love song, but she stated that it was embarrassing to do this as the first duet with her brother. Both songs were written by Gabriela Robin and composed and arranged by Yoko Kanno.

<i>Aquarion Logos</i> Anime television series

Aquarion Logos is an anime series produced by Satelight, and the third in the Aquarion franchise, after Genesis of Aquarion and Aquarion Evol, celebrating its 10th anniversary. The series is directed by Eiichi Sato, with character designs by Takeshi Mamezuka. The series' opening theme was composed by Yoko Kanno and performed by May'n. The series began airing in July 2015. In North America, Funimation simulcasted the anime as it aired in Japan. The series was added to the Crunchyroll catalog on June 15, 2017. This series follows an entirely new storyline, unrelated to the previous entries in the franchise.

Yurika Kobayashi, mononymously known by the stage name Yurika is a Japanese musician from Hasuda, Saitama who is signed to Toho Animation Records. She made her professional debut in 2017 with the release of the single "Shiny Ray", the title track of which was used as the first opening theme to the anime television series Little Witch Academia.
