The Japanese manga series Kinnikuman was written and illustrated by Yudetamago. The series follow Kinnikuman, a superhero who must win a wrestling tournament to retain the title of prince of Planet Kinniku.

The manga was first published in Shueisha's magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump as a two one-shots in December 1978 and March 1979. [1] The regular serialization started with the publication of the first chapter in the May 28, 1979 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, where it was serialized weekly until its conclusion in March 1987. [1] [2]

The 387 chapters were collected and published into 36 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha starting on December 20, 2002; the last volume was released on October 2, 2009. [3] [4] The manga was adapted into a 137-episode anime series produced by Toei Animation that aired in Japan on Nippon Television (NTV) from April 3, 1983 to October 1, 1986. [5] Additionally, a 46-episode series was produced by Toei and aired on NTV from October 6, 1991 to September 27, 1992. [6]

After 24 years, the series returned to be published on November 28, 2011 in Shū Play News, Shueisha's web version of Weekly Playboy . [7] The collected editions for the revived serial resumed the numbering from the original series, starting with the 37th volume published on January 29, 2010. [8] As of July 4, 2024, 85 volumes were released. [9]

The story follows the adventures of Monkey D. The Saints have sworn to defend the reincarnation of the Olympian goddess Athena in her battle against other gods who want to dominate Earth.

<i>Dr. Slump</i> Japanese manga series by Akira Toriyama

Dr. Slump is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 1980 to September 1984, with the chapters collected in 18 tankōbon volumes. The series follows the humorous adventures of the little girl robot Arale Norimaki, her creator Senbei Norimaki, and the other residents of the bizarre Penguin Village.

Slam Dunk is a Japanese sports manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue. It was followed by a sequel titled Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, serialized from December 2005 to July 2007, with its chapters collected in seven tankōbon volumes.

Yoshio Sawai is a Japanese gag manga artist, best known for his series Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and sequel Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, both serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo was adapted into a 76 episodes anime series by the Toei Animation studio between 2003 and 2005. His father is Japanese literature academic Taizo Sawai.

Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube is a Japanese manga series written by Shō Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 1993 to May 1999, with its chapters collected in 31 tankōbon volumes. The series follows Meisuke Nueno, aka Nūbē, the homeroom teacher for Class 5–3 at Dōmori Elementary. More than a teacher, however, he is a skilled exorcist, protecting the town of Dōmori from supernatural threats with strength borrowed from a powerful demon sealed in his left hand—a technique he calls the Demon's Hand. A 49-episode anime television series by Toei Animation was broadcast on TV Asahi from April 1996 to August 1997. Three movies and three original video animation (OVA) episodes were released. A new anime adaptation is set to premiere in 2025.

Yudetamago is the pen name of the Japanese manga artists duo consisting of story writer Takashi Shimada and artist Yoshinori Nakai. They are best known for the popular manga Kinnikuman, Ultimate Muscle, and Tatakae!! Ramenman. Many English speaking fans abbreviate Yudetamago as "Yude" while discussing the different peculiarities of the duo.

<i>Ring ni Kakero</i> Television series

Ring ni Kakero is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. It was published in Weekly Shōnen Jump between January 1977 and October 1981. The individual chapters were compiled by Shueisha into twenty-five tankōbon volumes. A sequel entitled Ring ni Kakero 2 was serialized in Super Jump between 2000 and 2008.

<i>Gag Manga Biyori</i> Japanese manga series

Masuda Kōsuke Gekijō: Gag Manga Biyori, or simply known as Gag Manga Biyori, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kosuke Masuda. It started in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Jump in the January 2000 issue. The magazine ceased publication in June 2007, and the series was transferred to the then-brand new magazine Jump Square in November of the same year, where it was published until November 2014. Shueisha collected its chapters in fifteen tankōbon volumes. The manga continued in Jump Square, under the title Gag Manga Biyori GB, in December 2014. Gag Manga Biyori features a hyperactive, random, and nonsensical style that revolves around various plots and characters throughout. Its first anime adaptation was a short film animated by Toei as part of Jump Festa in 2002. The first anime series and the sequel were produced by Artland, while the third and fourth sequel were produced by Studio Deen, selecting stories from the manga. Most episodes are five minutes long.

Yusuke Murata is a Japanese manga artist and animator, best known for illustrating the American football manga Eyeshield 21 in collaboration with writer Riichiro Inagaki, serialized between July 2002 and June 2009 in Weekly Shōnen Jump; and One's One-Punch Man, serialized in the Weekly Young Jump online version. Both works are adapted into anime television series.

<i>Toriko</i> Japanese manga series

Toriko (トリコ) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro. It follows the adventures of Toriko, a Gourmet Hunter, as he searches for rare, diverse foods to complete a full-course meal. On his journey, he is accompanied by a timid chef who wants to improve his skills. Toriko was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from May 2008 to November 2016, with its chapters collected into 43 tankōbon volumes.

<i>Sket Dance</i> Japanese manga series

Sket Dance is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kenta Shinohara. The manga follows the adventures of the Sket-dan, a high school club whose goal it is to help the students and teachers of Kaimei High School with their problems, as they do whatever it takes to help make their campus a better place. The story is mainly told in the perspective of the Sket-dan's three members: Bossun, the leader of the group; Himeko, the "muscle" and the only female in the group; and Switch, the otaku and the "brains" of the group. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from July 2007 to July 2013, with its chapters collected in 32 tankōbon volumes.

<i>World Trigger</i> Japanese manga series

World Trigger, also known as WorTri, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara. It was initially serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018, and transferred to Jump Square in December 2018. Its chapters have been collected in 27 tankōbon volumes as of May 2024. In North America, the manga has been licensed for English release by Viz Media.
