Rathika Sitsabaiesan is a former Canadian politician who was the member of Parliament (MP) for Scarborough—Rouge River from 2011 to 2015 as a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP). Sitsabaiesan is the first Tamil to be elected to the House of Commons.

Sathiyasangaree "Gary" Anandasangaree is a Tamil Canadian politician of Tamil origin and a lawyer who currently serves as the Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations as of 2023. He is the second Canadian federal minister of Tamil descent to hold office, following Anita Anand. He was elected to represent the riding of Scarborough—Rouge Park in the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election.

In November 2005 President of Sri Lanka Chandrika Kumaratunga awarded national honours to 231 individuals for distinguished services. The awards ceremony was held on 14 November 2005 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo.
