A Suurkilpailu (Grand Race) is a harness racing event in Finland in which the purse for the winner is at or over 10,000 Euros (approximately 13,500 USD). All Grand Races are authorised by the Finnish trotting and breeding association, Suomen Hippos ry, the central horse organisation of Finland. The most important Grand Races are Finlandia-Ajo, St Michel and Kymi Grand Prix. [1]

The foreign relations of Finland are the responsibility of the president of Finland, who leads foreign policy in cooperation with the government. Implicitly the government is responsible for internal policy and decision making in the European Union. Within the government, preparative discussions are conducted in the government committee of foreign and security policy, which includes the Prime Minister and at least the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defence, and at most four other ministers as necessary. The committee meets with the President as necessary. Laws concerning foreign relations are discussed in the parliamentary committee of foreign relations. The Finlandia Prize (Finlandia-palkinto) is a literary award in Finland by the Finnish Book Foundation. It is awarded annually to the author of the best Finnish novel, children's book, and non-fiction book of the year. The award sum is 30,000 euros. Works submitted for nomination may be in Finnish or Swedish and also works in other languages may be considered. Prior to 2010 only works written by citizens of Finland were allowed but the rules were changed when Alexandra Salmela, a citizen of Slovakia, was nominated.

Marigold IceUnity are a senior-level synchronized skating team from Helsinki, Finland, representing the figure skating club Helsingin Luistelijat. Coached by Anu Oksanen and Tiina Turunen, they are five-time World Champions and were ranked second in the world in 2015 by the International Skating Union.

Finlandia-Ajo is an annual Group One harness event that takes place at Vermo Racetrack in Helsinki, Finland. The competition, which was inaugurated in 1980, is regarded as Finland's biggest trotting event. It is raced over the mile, 1,609 meters. Finlandia-Ajo is part of the European Grand Circuit and the overall purse for the 2009 event was €190,000, equalling approximately US$247,000. The fastest winning time in the history of the race is 1:10.8, run by Opal Viking in 2007.
