The Flying Doctors is an Australian television medical drama series. Produced by Crawford Productions, it was first broadcast on the Nine Network on 26 May 1986. [1] The series centres around the everyday lifesaving efforts of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. [1] It was preceded by a three-part miniseries in 1985, and 221 episodes were produced over nine seasons. [2]

Contents

The Flying Doctors aired until 6 October 1992. [3] In January 1993, the series was renamed R.F.D.S. (The Royal Flying Doctor Service) and revamped with new characters and a new setting. [4] This season has been included as season 10 on steaming services and in Crawford Productions' official DVD release.

The Flying Doctors (1985)

The show began with a three-part miniseries broadcast on the Nine Network on 29 April 1985. It starred Andrew McFarlane and Lorna Patterson as Dr Tom Callaghan and Liz Drever. The series was filmed over three months at locations in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. [5]

Graham Harvey is an Australian actor, best known for his roles in television soap operas.

Darius Anton Perkins was an Australian actor. He was the original actor in the role of teenager Scott Robinson in the soap opera Neighbours in 1985 before the role was taken over by Jason Donovan the following year. Perkins also played Charlie in All the Green Year, Gary Samuels in Home and Away, and Ben in All the Rivers Run for which he won a Logie Award. After a lengthy time away from the screen, in 2013 Perkins returned to Neighbours as guest character Marty Kranic. Perkins also worked in the art department for two Bollywood films made in Australia.

Australia's Most Wanted is a television program based on the format made popular by America's Most Wanted. It was screened on the Seven Network as a regular series from 1989 until 1998.

New Faces was an Australian talent show that preceded the British show of the same name, produced at GTV-9 Melbourne. The program began in 1963 under the name Kevin Dennis Auditions, sponsored by a new car dealership, Kevin Dennis Motors, which was run by Kevin Dennis, who was also a well-known face on Australian TV from his catchy 'Update' TV Commercials in the 1960s–70s, which were featured during the breaks of the popular show. The program ran on Saturday mornings. The program name soon changed to Kevin Dennis New Faces, and later simply New Faces, becoming a Sunday night primetime show.

10 Late News is an Australian late night television news program, broadcast on Network 10. The revived bulletin is presented by Ursula Heger and airs first on 10Play from 29 April 2024, streaming live on 10Play and YouTube at 10 pm AEST, followed by a delayed broadcast on television at 10:30 pm local time.

Carols in the Domain is an annual Australian Christmas concert event held in the Domain Gardens in Sydney. It began in 1983, and features many national and international performers and guest appearances. It is a free event, broadcast around Australia on the Seven Network, and simulcast previously on Smooth FM and currently, on the Hit Network since 2023. The event was held on the last Saturday before Christmas Eve until 2015, before moving to the last Sunday before Christmas Eve since 2016, and has been held on the third Saturday in December since 2021. Carols in the Domain has become one of Australia's largest free Christmas events.

<i>Cluedo</i> (Australian game show) Australian television game show

Cluedo is an Australian whodunnit game show based on the British series of the same name and inspired by the 1949 board game Cluedo. It was produced by Crawford Action Time in conjunction with Nine Network. The show saw a studio audience view a dramatised scenario, then complete rounds of interrogating the six suspects on stage in character and viewing further evidence through a pre-recorded criminal investigation. Players then deduced the solution to the murder case using a trio of computer-linked electronic dials, and after the solution was revealed the first person who had locked-in this combination won a prize.

<i>Live-In</i> American sitcom

Live-In is an American sitcom created by Robert Sternin and Prudence Fraser that aired on CBS from March 20 to May 22, 1989. The series focuses on young Australian au pair Lisa Wells integrating into the home life of a New Jersey family and their teenage son Danny Mathews' efforts to become her boyfriend. Nine episodes were filmed in Los Angeles, which CBS hoped would draw a younger audience to the network.

Richard Huggett is an Australian film, television and theatre actor. After graduating from NIDA in 1988, Huggett guested in an episode of Home and Away, before he was cast as villain Sonny Bennett in E Street. Huggett's character killed four of the show's regulars, before taking his own life, bringing in strong ratings for the soap. Huggett went on to win the Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 1991 for his portrayal of Sonny. Huggett next played Glen Donnelly in another soap Neighbours from 1990 until 1992. He only stayed for a year, as he wanted more to pursue more demanding roles. In 1994, Huggett joined short-lived soap Paradise Beach as Sam Dexter and police drama Blue Heelers as supporting character Sean Neale. He has also made guest appearances in various television shows, including Col'n Carpenter, All Saints and Out of the Blue. He appeared in the Australian film Aiyai: Wrathful Soul in 2020 and re-joined the cast of Neighbours as Glen in 2021. In addition to his television and film work, Huggett has also appeared in a number of theatre productions.
