The Flying Doctors is an Australian television medical drama series. Produced by Crawford Productions, it was first broadcast on the Nine Network on 26 May 1986. [1] The series centres around the everyday lifesaving efforts of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. It was preceded by a three-part miniseries in 1985, and 221 episodes were produced. [2] [3] [4] The Flying Doctors aired until August 1991. The following list represents the order in which the episodes were originally broadcast rather than the DVD release order.

The Flying Doctors (1985)

The show began with a three-part miniseries broadcast on the Nine Network on 29 April 1985. It starred Andrew McFarlane and Lorna Patterson as Dr Tom Callaghan and Liz Drever. The series was filmed over three months at locations in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. [5]

Mr. Squiggle is an Australian children's television series, and the name of the title character from that ABC show. The show was presented on television in many formats, between its inception on 1 July 1959 and 1999, from five-minute slots to a one-and-a-half-hour variety show featuring other performers, and has had several name changes, originally airing as Mr. Squiggle and Friends. At its height, the program was one of the most popular children's programs in Australia and toured theatre and conventions, entertaining several generations who grew with the program. It became one of the longest-running children's programs on Australian television.

Janet Andrewartha is an Australian television and theatre actress. Andrewartha began her career as a music teacher before attending drama school. She graduated in 1979 and began securing television and theatre roles. Andrewartha's most significant roles have been in Australian television series, most prominently Reb Kean in Prisoner, Marion Stewart in the ABC drama series Embassy and Lyn Scully in the soap opera Neighbours. Live-In is an American sitcom created by Robert Sternin and Prudence Fraser that aired briefly on CBS from March 20 to May 22, 1989. The series focuses on young Australian au pair Lisa Wells integrating into the home life of a New Jersey family and their teenage son Danny Mathews' efforts to become her boyfriend. Nine episodes were filmed in Los Angeles, which CBS hoped would draw a younger audience to the network.

Martin Herbert Fabinyi is an Australian film and television producer and director, songwriter and screenwriter and has written books on the local rock music scene. He was the chief executive officer of Mushroom Pictures from its formation in 1995 to 2009. His film projects include the features Chopper (2000), Gettin' Square (2003) and Macbeth (2006). In 2001, Fabinyi was profiled by Variety. He was named one of the most influential people in the Australian film industry by Screen International magazine.

The Queensland PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. The tournament is currently held at Nudgee Golf Club in Nudgee.

Martin Allan Lass is an American violinist and sometime astrologer, who grew up, and started his performance career, in Australia.

The Silver Logie for Most Popular New Talent is an award presented at the Australian TV Week Logie Awards. The award recognises the popularity of a new talent in an Australian program. It may or may not be their first television appearance, however it is their first major television role.

The Australian Centre for Photography (ACP) is a not-for-profit photography gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia that was established in 1973. ACP also provides part-time courses and community programs. It is one of the longest running contemporary art spaces in Australia.

Geoff Paine is an Australian television and theatre actor from Melbourne. After graduating from drama school Paine secured a role on the soap opera Neighbours, playing the role of doctor Clive Gibbons. He remained in the role for one year before leaving to pursue other projects. He returned to the role briefly in 1989, with the opportunity to appear in a spin-off series based on the character, but no television network would produce the show. Paine continued his career with roles in A Country Practice and the comedy sketch show The Comedy Company. He also concentrated on his stage career gaining roles in productions that toured Australia, including various projects at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

The Australian PGA Seniors Championship is a golf tournament in Australia.

Vikki Blanche is an Australian actress and director. She made her television debut in the children's series Home in 1983, followed by a role in the ABC drama The Keepers. Shortly after graduating from the National Theatre in late 1984, Blanche was cast as Julie Robinson in the soap opera Neighbours, which began airing in March 1985. She received praise for her performance from critics, but after seven months she decided to leave the serial so she would not be typecast in the future. Blanche joined the cast of The Flying Doctors as Paula Patterson in 1988. She also appeared in the sitcom Col'n Carpenter and the 1991 miniseries Rose Against the Odds. Blanche then spent 18 months living and studying acting in New York City. Upon her return to Australia, Blanche was cast as Senior Detective Chris Faithful in the second season of the ABC police drama Phoenix. After an appearance in the 1997 feature film Road to Nhill, Blanche wrote and directed The Other Days of Ruby Rae, which earned her a nomination for Best Screenplay in a Short Film at the 2000 AFI Awards. Blanche has since gone on to direct television commercials.
