The mass media in Poland consist of several different types of communications media including television, radio, cinema, newspapers, magazines, and Internet. During the communist regime in Poland the Stalinist press doctrine dominated and controlled Polish media. The country instituted freedom of press since the fall of communism. The Polish media system's main features are the product of the country's socio-political and economic post-communist transition. These features include: the privatisation of the press sector; the transformation of the state radio and television into public broadcasting services; influx of foreign capital into the media market and European integration of audiovisual media policies. Today the media landscape is very plural but highly polarized along political and ideological divides.
The Sopot International Song Festival or Sopot Festival is an annual international song contest held in Sopot, Poland. It is the biggest Polish music festival altogether with the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, and one of the biggest song contests in Europe.
TVN is a Polish free-to-air television station. The broadcaster was co-founded by Polish businessmen Mariusz Walter, Jan Wejchert and Swiss entrepreneur Bruno Valsangiacomo. It is owned by TVN Group, which as of March 2018, is a subsidiary of Discovery Inc.
TVN Meteo was a Polish channel dedicated exclusively to weather forecasts, it launched on May 10, 2003. It was part of the TVN network and is owned by TVN Group. Its programmes aere prepared by the same weather team that presents the forecasts for TVN Meteo's sister channel TVN 24 and the group's flagship channel, TVN. It was available on most Polish cable networks.
TVN24 is a Polish 24-hour commercial news channel, launched on 9 August 2001. Being a part of the TVN Network, TVN24 has been owned since July 2017 by US-based TV content provider Discovery. It gained broader popularity after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US, which was the first major incident to be covered by TVN24. It is available over all digital platforms in Poland as well as in most cable networks and some networks in other countries, including USA and Germany. The audio portion of the channel can be streamed on the internet.
Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz is a Polish conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of Poland from 31 October 2005 to 14 July 2006. He was a member of the Law and Justice party.
Presidential elections were held in Poland on 20 June 2010. As no candidate received a majority of votes in the first round, a second round was held on 4 July 2010. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. Private television stations in Poland appeared around the time of the fall of communism, with PTV Echo becoming the first private station in Poland.
Andrzej Szczytko was a Polish actor and stage director. Szczytko is the recipient of multiple theatre awards and honours, including the 2016 Witkacy Prize - Critics' Circle Award. He was awarded the Decoration of Honor "Meritorious for Polish Culture" in 2012 for his contribution to Polish culture, and in 2017, the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis.
X Factor was a Polish talent show based on a British show The X Factor and broadcast on TVN. The first series premiered on 6 March 2011. On 27 November 2010, during the final of the third series of Poland's Got Talent Marcin Prokop confirmed that the auditions would be held in January 2011. That was also the first public statement from TVN about X Factor.
The second series of Polish television music competition X Factor started on TVN on 3 March and will end in June 2012. The pre-auditions took place in December 2011 and filmed auditions began on 10 January 2012 in Zabrze. Two of the judges, Czesław Mozil and Kuba Wojewódzki returned, though Maja Sablewska had left the show after the first series. She was replaced by a new judge, Tatiana Okupnik. Jarosław Kuźniar returned to present the show.

X Factor is a Polish television music competition to find new singing talent. The fourth series began airing on TVN on 1 March 2014 and ended on 31 May 2014. Presidential elections were held in Poland on 28 June 2020. As no candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 12 July, in which incumbent president Andrzej Duda, running with the support of Law and Justice, faced off against Civic Platform vice-chairman and Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. Results from the second round of voting, announced by the National Electoral Commission (PKW) on 13 July, indicated that Andrzej Duda had won with 51.03% compared to Rafał Trzaskowski's 48.97%.
TVN Group is a Polish media and entertainment group established in 1995 as TVN Sp. z o.o. Piotr Korycki was the President of TVN Group from May 2018 to September 2020, succeeding Jim Samples. Currently, the position of president of TVN Group is vacant. The group is overseen by Katarzyna Kieli, president and managing director of Discovery in EMEA.
