Bulawayo is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland region. The city's population is disputed; the 2022 census listed it at 665,940, while the Bulawayo City Council claimed it to be about 1.2 million. Bulawayo covers an area of 546 square kilometres in the western part of the country, along the Matsheumhlope River. Along with the capital Harare, Bulawayo is one of two cities in Zimbabwe that are also provinces.

Mutare, formerly known as Umtali until 1982, is the most populous city in the province of Manicaland, and the third most populous in Zimbabwe, having surpassed Gweru in the 2012 census, with an urban population of 224,802 and approximately 260,567 in the surrounding districts, giving the wider metropolitan area a total population of over 500,000 people. Mutare is also the capital of Manicaland Province and the largest city in eastern Zimbabwe.

Harare Polytechnic College, formerly Salisbury Polytechnic and commonly referred to as Harare Polytechnic, is a technical, public research university in Causeway, Harare. The university is known for its strength in science and engineering, and is one among a small group of technical schools or institutes of technology in Zimbabwe which are primarily devoted to the instruction of pure and applied sciences. The school was founded on the British polytechnic model offering standard and higher diplomas and undergraduate degrees, unlike European and American institutions which often offer postgraduate degrees and a strong emphasis on research. At the outset, the focus of polytechnics was on STEM subjects with a special emphasis on engineering.
Mutasa District is one of seven districts in Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe. Mutasa District is located 30 km northeast of Mutare and stretches up to the Honde Valley, which is about 100 km northeast of Mutare along a tarred road that branches off the Nyanga road.

Sakubva High School is a day school located within Sakubva high density township in Mutare, Zimbabwe. Formerly Sakubva Secondary School but now called Sakubva High School, it is also referred to as Sakubva 1 High School. The school is the oldest secondary school in Sakubva township. It produced a number of prominent students from the township. Students typically walk to the school.
Sakubva township is a high-density suburb in the city of Mutare, Zimbabwe, which contains nearly a quarter of the population of Mutare despite an area of less than four square miles. It was the first high-density suburb (township) being established in Mutare. At that time, it was located in the Old Location section of Sakubva. It is the poorest of Mutare's suburb and its economy is centred on a large outdoor food and flea market.

The Zimbabwe Institute of Legal Studies (ZILS) in Harare, is the first and currently only college awarding law courses in Zimbabwe. It was founded in 2009 by Godwills Masimirembwa a lawyer by profession and former Chairman of the ZMDC. First students enrolled in 2010 and all programmes are taught in the English language. The college awards five courses up to National Diploma (ND) level through five law-related departments. The college is accredited by the National Council for Higher Education, under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education. Therefore, the courses awarded by the ZILS have equal weight as courses awarded by Harare Polytechnic because their courses are accredited by the same body. In theory, the ZILS is a polytechnic of law because Harare Polytechnic does not offer law courses.
