The following is a List of communist parties represented in European Parliament. This list does not contain communist parties previously represented in European Parliament. This article lists only those parties who officially call themselves communist ideologically. Seven communist parties have been elected to European Parliament in seven different countries.

    The Communist Party of Ukraine is a banned political party in Ukraine. It was founded in 1993 and claimed to be the successor to the Soviet-era Communist Party of Ukraine, which had been banned in 1991. In 2002 it held a "unification" congress when both "old and new" parties merged. The party is a member of the Moscow-based Union of Communist Parties, an umbrella organisation for all communist parties of the former Soviet Union. The party has been led by Petro Symonenko since it was founded.

    The Party of the European Left (PEL), or European Left (EL), is a European political party that operates as an association of democratic socialist and communist political parties in the European Union and other European countries. It was formed in January 2004 for the purposes of running in the 2004 European Parliament elections. The PEL was founded on 8–9 May 2004 in Rome. The elected MEPs from member parties of the PEL sit in The Left in the European Parliament – GUE/NGL group in the European Parliament, though not all PEL members are also members of GUE/NGL.

    Early parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine on 30 September 2007. The election date was determined following agreement between the President Viktor Yushchenko, the Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Moroz on 27 May 2007, in an attempt to resolve the political crisis in Ukraine triggered by the 2 April 2007 presidential decree on dissolution of Ukraine's parliament.

    The Communist Refoundation Party is a communist political party in Italy that emerged from a split of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) in 1991. The party's secretary is Maurizio Acerbo, who replaced Paolo Ferrero in 2017. Armando Cossutta was the party's founder, while Fausto Bertinotti its longest-serving leader (1994–2008). The latter transformed the PRC from a traditional communist party into a collection of radical social movements.

    <span class="mw-page-title-main">Initiative of Communist and Workers' Parties</span> Communist group in the European Parliament (2013–2023)

    The Initiative of Communist and Workers' Parties (INITIATIVE) was a Marxist–Leninist cooperative association of primarily European Communist parties. The initiative had 30 member parties from all over Europe and the surrounding area. The Communist Party of Greece was the main founder of initiative. The express purpose of the organisation was to "contribute to the research and study of issues concerning Europe, particularly concerning the EU, the political line which is drawn up in its framework and affects the lives of the workers, as well as to assist the elaboration of joint positions of the parties and the coordination of their solidarity and their other activities". On 9 September 2023, the organisation was dissolved following ideological and political differences between the association's members over the topic of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The European Communist Action was established on 18 November 2023 as a continuation of the INITIATIVE association created by the Communist Party of Greece.
