The compositional career of the British composer Alan Bush extended from the early 1920s to the mid-1980s. He died aged 94 in 1995. His oeuvre includes large-scale orchestral and/or choral works, operas and other theatrical music, chamber music, piano works, brass band arrangements and songs. This list of his compositions is mainly drawn from the list included in Alan Bush: Music, Politics and Life (Thames Publishing, London 2000), pp. 146–164. Details that are not given in this main source have been added on the basis of information provided in the "Compositions" pages of the Alan Bush Music Trust website.
A separate listing is given of the shorter songs and choruses composed or arranged by Bush for the Workers' Music Association and other choirs with which he was associated during his working life.

Alan Dudley Bush was a British composer, pianist, conductor, teacher and political activist. A committed communist, his uncompromising political beliefs were often reflected in his music. He composed prolifically across a range of genres, but struggled through his lifetime for recognition from the British musical establishment, which largely ignored his works.
John Nicholson Ireland was an English composer and teacher of music. The majority of his output consists of piano miniatures and of songs with piano. His best-known works include the short instrumental or orchestral work "The Holy Boy", a setting of the poem "Sea-Fever" by John Masefield, a formerly much-played Piano Concerto, the hymn tune Love Unknown and the choral motet "Greater Love Hath No Man".
Sir Granville Ransome Bantock was a British composer of classical music.
Robert Eugene Ward was an American composer who is best remembered for his opera The Crucible (1961) after the 1953 play of the same name by Arthur Miller. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music for that opera in 1962.
Stephen Cuthbert Vivian Dodgson was a British composer and broadcaster. Dodgson's prolific musical output covered most genres, ranging from opera and large-scale orchestral music to chamber and instrumental music, as well as choral works and song. Three instruments to which he dedicated particular attention were the guitar, harpsichord and recorder. He wrote in a mainly tonal, although sometimes unconventional, idiom. Some of his works use unusual combinations of instruments.

Geoffrey Bush was a British composer, teacher and music scholar. Largely without formal training in composition, he produced a wide range of compositions across different genres, including many songs and works for choirs. He also edited and arranged the works of other composers. Most of his teaching was within the framework of the Extramural Departments at Oxford University and London University. He was a popular broadcaster on BBC music programmes, and the author of several books.

Mansel Treharne Thomas, was a Welsh composer and conductor, who worked mainly in South Wales. He was one of the most influential musicians of his generation, known as a composer, conductor and adjudicator. He was for many years employed by the BBC and promoted the careers of many composers and performers. He himself wrote vocal, choral, instrumental, band and orchestral music, specialising in setting songs and poetry. Many of his orchestral and chamber music pieces are based on Welsh folk songs and dances.

Leo Arnaud or Léo Arnaud was a French American arranger, composer, and orchestrator of film scores. He composed "Bugler's Dream", which is used as the theme by television networks presenting the Olympic Games in the United States.
