Senior Open Championship

The Senior Open Championship, or simply The Senior Open is a professional golf tournament for players aged 50 and over. It is run by The R&A, the same body that organises The Open Championship. Prize money won in the event is official money on both PGA Tour Champions and the European Senior Tour. The purse, which is fixed in United States dollars, was $2 million in 2011, with a winner's share of $315,600. For sponsorship reasons, it is currently known as The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex.

The Women's British Open is a major championship in women's professional golf. It is recognised by both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour as a major. The reigning champion is Sophia Popov, who won by two strokes at Royal Troon Golf Club in 2020.

The King's Own Band is a Maltese philharmonic band based in the country's capital Valletta.

Golf Digest is a monthly golf magazine published by Discovery, Inc. under its Discovery Golf division. It is a generalist golf publication covering recreational golf and men's and women's competitive golf. The magazine started by John F. Barnett in 1950 in Chicago, moved to Connecticut in 1964 and was sold to The New York Times Company in 1969. The Times company sold their magazine division to Condé Nast in 2001. The headquarters of Golf Digest is in New York City relocated from Connecticut. On May 13, 2019, Discovery, Inc. acquired Golf Digest from Condé Nast, in order to integrate with GolfTV.

Queen of Malta

From 1964 to 1974, Elizabeth II was Queen of Malta. The State of Malta was an independent sovereign state, sharing a monarch with other Commonwealth realms, including the United Kingdom. The Queen's constitutional roles in Malta were mostly delegated to a Governor-General.

Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) in Kolkata, India was established in 1829 and is the oldest golf club in India and the second outside Great Britain.

The R&A

The R&A is golf's governing body along with the United States Golf Association (USGA), who governs the sport of golf worldwide. They operate in different areas of the world, with the USGA governing in United States and Mexico and The R&A governing in the rest of the world. They both share a single code for the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status, Equipment Standards and World Amateur Golf Rankings. The R&A's headoffice is based in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. Historically, The R&A was incorporated into the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews up until 2004, when it split its functions and is now separate and distinct from the golf club. The R&A organises The Open Championship, which is the world's oldest international Men's major golf championships, the Women's British Open, the Senior Open Championship, plus the Walker Cup and Curtis Cup. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club founded what is now the Official World Golf Ranking for male professionals in 1986, and the World Amateur Golf Ranking for male amateurs in 2007. The R&A owns and operates the British Golf Museum.

Henry Torrens

Lieutenant General Sir Henry D'Oyley Torrens was a British army officer and colonial governor. He was born in Meerut, India, the son of Henry Whitelock Torrens and Eliza Mary Roberts and died in London.

The Royal Malta Golf Club was founded in 1888 by Lieutenant-General Sir Henry D’Oyley Torrens KCB KCMG. A career soldier, Sir Henry was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the 23rd Foot, Royal Welsh Fusiliers in 1849. His rise through the ranks was very rapid, reaching the rank of Colonel in 1864, Major General in 1869 and finally Lieutenant-General in 1884; when he was appointed to command British troops in South Africa. He was only 52 when he arrived in Cape Town, his exceptional ability reflected in the high rank he held at a comparatively early age. Within ten days of his arrival he had launched the game of golf in South Africa. Thus the Cape Golf Club came into being.

Glamorganshire Golf Club

Glamorganshire Golf Club is located in Lower Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, 7.3 miles south west from the capital city of Cardiff and is one of the oldest golf clubs in Wales. The club was founded by the Earl of Plymouth.

Golf in Scotland

Golf in Scotland was first recorded in the Scottish late Middle Ages, and the modern game of golf was first developed and established in the country. The game plays a key role in the national sporting consciousness.

The Royal Palm Golf and Country Club (RPGCC) is a golf course and social club complex in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located on the Canal Bank Road in Lahore. It was previously owned by the Pakistan Railways and called the Pakistan Railways Golf Club. In 2001, the club was sold by Pakistan Railways to the current management and renamed as the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club. It is a national and international sports venue. As of 2013 memberships were the equivalent of $8,000.

The Cape Town Open is a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour in Cape Town, South Africa. From 2012 to 2016, it was played annually in November at Royal Cape Golf Club. In 2018, it moved to February at the King David Mowbray Golf Club. Rhys Enoch won by one stroke from Peter Karmis. In 2019, the event moved to the Royal Cape Golf Club and was won by Benjamin Follett-Smith.

La Manga Club Spanish holiday, sports and leisure resort

La Manga Club is a sports and leisure resort located in the south-eastern region of Spain, Murcia, south of La Manga, and bordered by the Mar Menor and Calblanque Regional Park. The resort complex opened in 1972 and covers an area of 1,400 acres (560 ha).

The Royal Belfast Golf Club is located on the southern shores of Belfast Lough at Craigavad in County Down, seven miles from the centre of Belfast. Founded in 1881 the club claims to be the oldest such club in Ireland. The present course was designed by Harry Colt

The New Golf Club

The New Golf Club is a golf club in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. It is one of the three senior men's clubs in St Andrews, along with The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the St Andrews Golf Club. The club was founded in 1902. The club does not own a golf course of its own, and consequently members play on the seven public links courses at the St Andrews Links including the Old Course.
