Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese professional footballer who has represented the Portugal since his debut on 10 November 2017. [1] As of June 2025, he has earned 80 caps and scored 25 goals for his country. [2]
In March 2024, Fernandes became only the 12th player in Portugal’s history to reach 20 international goals, netting twice in a friendly against Sweden. [3] By June, a brace in a 4–2 friendly win over Finland pushed him into Portugal’s all-time top 10 scorers, tying with the likes of Simão Sabrosa at 22 goals. [4]
Fernandes also played a pivotal role in Portugal’s 2022 World Cup qualification, scoring a double in the playoff final against North Macedonia, helping secure their place in Qatar. [5]
Most recently, in November 2024, he scored twice in a 5–1 Nations League victory over Poland — a match that illustrated his ability to step up in finals and high-stakes fixtures. [6] [7]
