Bhopal is the capital city of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of both Bhopal district and Bhopal division. It is known as the City of Lakes, due to its various natural and artificial lakes. It is also one of the greenest cities in India. It is the 16th largest city in India and 131st in the world. After the formation of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal was part of the Sehore district. It was bifurcated in 1972 and a new district, Bhopal, was formed. Flourishing around 1707, the city was the capital of the former Bhopal State, a princely state of the British ruled by the Nawabs of Bhopal. Numerous heritage structures from this period include the Taj-ul-Masajid and Taj Mahal palace. In 1984, the city was struck by the Bhopal disaster, one of the worst industrial disasters in history.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, popularly known as Mama, is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is serving as the 17th and current Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh since 2020 and again from 2005 to 2018 and a Member of Legislative Assembly in Madhya Pradesh from Budhni since 2006 and again from 1990 to 1991. He is the longest serving Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is the municipal corporation that governs most of Delhi, India. The MCD is among the largest municipal bodies in the world providing civic services to a population of about 20 million citizens in the capital city. MCD is one of three municipalities in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, the others being New Delhi Municipal Council, and Delhi Cantonment Board. The annual budget of the corporation is above ₹16,000 crore. The municipal corporation covers an area of 1,397.3 km² (539.5 mi²). It is the only municipality of Delhi which is elected by people.
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is the civic body that governs the inner limits of Pune, India. It is in charge of the civic needs and infrastructure of the metropolis, which is spread over an area of 484.61 sq. km. and has 3.4 million residents. Established on 15 February 1950, the executive power of the PMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Vikram Kumar, IAS.The general body of the PMC consists of 162 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Murlidhar Mohol (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sunita Wadekar as the deputy mayor by the newly elected in April 2021. The land for Pune Municipal Corporation was donated by Late Hon. Shri. Bhausaheb Shirole (Patil) who was second Mayor of Pune city and later became an MLC. The Pune Municipal Corporation has launched an e-Governance initiative, with the goal of leveraging Information Technology to mobilize Government resources and optimize their utilization in order to provide a superior level of service. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is the civic body that governs Pimpri-Chinchwad which includes Pimpri, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Nigdi, and the remainder of the northwestern city limits of Pune, India. It was established on 11 October 1982. It governs an area of 181 km2 with a population of 1.72 million. The executive power of the PCMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Shekhar Singh (IAS) during the pandemic in late December 2020. The general body of the PCMC consists of 128 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Rahul Jadhav (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sachin Chinchwade (BJP) as the deputy mayor in August 2018. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is the Municipal Corporation for the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. It is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city of Bhopal. BMC administers an area of 463 km2. BMC is headed by Kolsani V.S. Choudhary (IAS) as the Commissioner and Alok Sharma as the Mayor. In August 2014, the corporation became one of India’s first municipal corporations to automate citizen services, working with German software company SAP SE for the purpose.
Sudha Jain is an Indian politician from the Sagar city of the state of Madhya Pradesh. She represents the Bharatiya Janata Party. She won the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections consecutively for three terms i.e. 1993, 1998 and 2003 from the Sagar constituency. She was also a minister in Madhya Pradesh Government in 2007. She was the first woman MLA from Sagar constituency. He has defeated Vitthalbhai Patel who was a Congress leader and Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate famed Bollywood lyricist and poet and industrialist. During the same tenure in 1978 – 1980 he served as Minister for Higher Education, in Government of Madhya Pradesh in the Sakhlecha ministry. Mr. Virendra Kumar Sakhlecha was the then chief minister. Second time, in 1989, Mr. Yadav again defeated Patel from the same constituency.
Vishvas Sarang is an Indian politician from Madhya Pradesh associated with Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Narela in Bhopal district. He first served as a corporator of the then Bhopal South Vidhansabha constituency from the same Bhartiya Janta Party. He belongs to Kayastha Hindu community. Sarang served as the minister for Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation and Panchayat and Rural Development in Madhya Pradesh under chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan from 2013 to 2018.
Rajni Tiwari is an Indian politician, a Minister of State in the Government of Uttar Pradesh and a member of the 18th Legislative Assembly. She represents the Shahabad constituency and is a member of the Bhartiya Janta Party.
The Meerut Nagar Nigam (MNN) also known as Meerut Municipal Corporation (MMC) is the civic body that governs Meerut city. Established under the Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act-1959, it is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city.
Krishna Gaur is an Indian politician. She was elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Govindpura in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She defeated her nearest rival, Girish Sharma of Indian National Congress by 46,359 votes. She is the first woman ever to be elected as an MLA from Bhopal. She was also the mayor of Bhopal and the chairperson of the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Corporation.
Anurag Singh is an Indian politician and a member of Legislative Assembly, Uttar Pradesh of India. He represents the Chunar constituency in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Anurag Singh is Bhartiya Janta Party MLA from Chunar assembly of district Mirzapur for the second consecutive time. He is the son of Om Prakash Singh, ex BJP Uttar Pradesh State President.
In India, a mayor heads a municipal corporation which governs respective Indian towns and cities. The mayor of a city is the first citizen of that city. Municipal corporation mechanisms in India was introduced during British Rule with formation of municipal corporation in Madras (Chennai) in 1688, later followed by municipal corporations in Bombay (Mumbai) and Calcutta (Kolkata) by 1762. However the process of introduction for an elected President in the municipalities was made in Lord Mayo's Resolution of 1870. Since then the current form and structure of municipal bodies followed is similar to Lord Ripon's Resolution adopted in 1882 on local self-governance. The 74th Constitutional Amendment Act of 1992 was introduced providing for the transfer of 18 different powers to urban local bodies, including the election of a mayor and to recognise them which included municipal corporations, Nagar Panchayats, Municipal Councils.
2022 Madhya Pradesh local elections were held in July. The elections to 347 municipalities in Madhya Pradesh were held in two phases. On 6 July, polling was held for the 133 local bodies, while the polling in 214 local bodies was held on 13 July. In the second phase on 13 July, polling was held in five municipal corporations, 40 municipal councils and 168 nagar parishads.
Brijendra Pratap Singh is an Indian politician, who represents Panna constituency in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He is a member of the Bhartiya Janta Party. Since 2021, he has served as minister in the of Mineral Resources and Labour Department. He was elected as a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2018 from the constituency Panna (60).

Chaudhary Mukesh Singh Chaturvedi is an Indian politician belonging to the Bhartiya Janta Party predominantly working in Madhya Pradesh. He is currently serving as the state vice president for Bharatiya Janata Party, Madhya Pradesh since January 2021 and is in-charge of Sagar Division, comprising six districts. Chaudhary, a prominent figure in the Chambal division, represented Mehgaon Constituency in the 14th Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and prior to that, he had served as the Chairman of Bhind Nagar Palika Parishad between the years 1999–2004.
