Bhopal is the capital city of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of both Bhopal district and Bhopal division. It is known as the City of Lakes, due to presence of various natural and artificial lakes near the city boundary. It is also one of the greenest cities in India. It is the 16th largest city in India and 131st in the world. After the formation of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal was part of the Sehore district. It was bifurcated in 1972 and a new district, Bhopal, was formed. Flourishing around 1707, the city was the capital of the former Bhopal State, a princely state of the British ruled by the Nawabs of Bhopal until India's independence in 1947. India achieved independence on 15 August 1947. Bhopal was one of the last states to sign the ‘Instrument of Accession’. The ruler of Bhopal acceded to the Indian government, and Bhopal became an Indian state on 1 May 1949. Sindhi refugees from Pakistan were accommodated in Bairagarh, a western suburb of Bhopal.
Digvijaya Singh is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha since 2014. He is a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and Ex-General Secretary of the Indian National Congress party's All India Congress Committee. Previously, he had served as the 14th and 15th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state, in two terms from 1993 to 1998 and from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that he was a minister in Chief Minister Arjun Singh's cabinet between 1980 and 1984. In 2019 Indian general election he was defeated by Pragya Singh Thakur for Bhopal Lok Sabha seat.
Prakash Chandra Sharma is an Indian politician of Indian National Congress and current member of Madhya Pradesh's 15th Vidhan Sabha, who was Cabinet Minister of Law and Legal Affairs Department, Public Relations Department, Science and Technology Department, Department of Civil Aviation, Department Associated with the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Government of Madhya Pradesh during CM Kamal Nath Government (2018–2020). Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician and national president of the Samajwadi Party who served as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Having assumed the chief minister's office on 15 March 2012 at the age of 38, he is the youngest person to have held the office till date. Raja Bhoj Airport is a domestic airport and a seasonal international airport serving Bhopal, the capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It was notified as customs airport on March 13, 2024. Named after the 10th century Paramara king, Raja Bhoj, it is the second busiest airport in Madhya Pradesh in terms of passenger and aircraft movements. It is the largest airport in the state by area. It is located in Gandhi Nagar, 15 km (9.3 mi) away from Bhopal Junction railway station in the city centre, and 20 km (12 mi) away from Habibganj railway station in the south of the city. Since October 1, 2024 the Airport has commenced round the clock (24*7) operations, facilitating increased connectivity and flexibility.

The Bhoj Metro is an under construction rapid transit system intended to serve the city of Bhopal, India, the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The total system consists of 6 corridors covering a distance of 104.87 kilometres (65.16 mi). The first phase of the Bhopal Metro project consists of 28 km (17.40 mi) of line 2 & 5 being under construction. This project will cost ₹80 billion (US$940 million) approximately. There will be three types of run – on road, on bridges, and underground in some locations.
The Indore Metro is a rapid transit system which is under construction for the city of Indore, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The total system consists of 11 corridors (lines) covering a distance of 124 kilometres (77 mi). This project will cost approximately ₹12,000 crore (US$1.4 billion). The cost per km will be 182 crores and total cost is 15,000 crores. The metro system will be elevated, underground and on ground. The Indore Metro project has been subject to serious contestation due to the inappropriate shifting of Seismic zone-II to Seismic zone-IV category which has led to increase in budgetary cost for the entire project.
Bhopal BRTS was a bus rapid transit system in Bhopal, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The construction was funded by the Central Government under its flagship JnNURM. Unlike most of BRT projects in India which are designed to cater the transportation needs of suburban parts of the city, Bhopal BRTS is designed mainly to serve the Central business districts (CBDs). It was launched with a fleet of just 30 buses in 2006, after receiving JnNURM Sanction, and has grown to 225 buses comprising AC and Non AC Low Floor Buses.

Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held on 28 November 2018 to elect members of the 230 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. The election was a direct political battle between the BJP and the INC. One of the main centers of attraction was the contest between Congress heavy-weight Arun Yadav and the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. While the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had tried to win for consecutive 4th term, the INC fought for winning the state after 2003. The election led to a hung assembly, with the INC emerging as the single largest party and the BJP winning the popular vote. After the results, Congress and BSP formed the government with Kamal Nath becoming the chief minister.

Chaudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi is an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress party from Madhya Pradesh. Hailing from the Chambal region, he has been a four-time Member of Legislative Assembly of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Bhind constituency since 1990. Previously, he had served the 13th Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly as the deputy leader of the opposition and as the leader of the opposition. Prior to that, he was a minister in Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh's cabinet between 1998 and 2003.
Krishna Gaur is an Indian politician serving as a Minister of State in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from December 2023. Elected from Govindpura constituency in the 2018 and 2023 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, Gaur is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She defeated her nearest rival, Girish Sharma of Indian National Congress by 46,359 votes. She is the first woman ever to be elected as an MLA from Bhopal. She was also the mayor of Bhopal and the chairperson of the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Corporation.

Rewa Airport is a domestic airport, which serves the city of Rewa, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is located at Chorhata, 11 km (6.8 mi) away from the city centre. The airport is part of the government's UDAN regional connectivity scheme. The airport is connected by flights to Jabalpur and Singrauli under the PM Shri Tourism Air Services operated by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB). The airport is also connected by flights to Bhopal and Khajuraho operated by Flybig.
Brijendra Pratap Singh also known as Dau Sahab is an Indian politician from Madhya Pradesh. He is a four time MLA from the Panna Assembly constituency representing the Bhartiya Janta Party. He is serving as minister for mineral resources and labour department since 2021 in the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
