The A9 motorway is a north–south motorway in Croatia, with a length of 78.3 kilometres. Beginning in Pula, the largest city on the Istrian peninsula, it runs north to the Croatian motorway and expressway network at the Kanfanar interchange. Here it meets the A8 motorway, forming the Istrian Y road system. The A9 continues north from here to the Kaštel and Plovanija border crossings into Slovenia. The motorway represents a significant north–south transportation corridor in Croatia and is a part of the European route E751. The motorway's national significance is reflected in the positive economic impact on the cities and towns it connects, as well as its importance to tourism in Croatia. Importance of the motorway for tourism is particularly high during summer tourist seasons, when traffic volume increases by more than 80%.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Vrsar airport bombing</span>

The Vrsar airport bombing was a Yugoslav Air Force strike on the Crljenka airport near Vrsar—an air sports airport in the Istrian peninsula. The airstrike occurred on 21 December 1991, possibly as an attempt to stop the training of Croatian pilots, who had deserted the Yugoslav Air Force and were being trained in Vrsar. Other than being a training facility, the airport had a significant logistical value. However, since an attack was expected only on the more strategically important Pula Airport the airport had little defences, and the Croatians were caught unaware, with the alarm sounding ten minutes after the attack. Two people were killed in the raid, while the airport was damaged.

The Pula Airport incident occurred on November 10, 1991 in Pula, Croatia, during the Croatian War of Independence, when four technicians were blown up in an attempt to the demine Pula Airport. The airport had been left heavily mined by the Serb forces, who had just left the airport.

Zvane (Ivan) Črnja was a prominent Croatian poet, prose writer, essayist, culturologist, screenwriter, playwright and filmologist, journalist, publicist, polemicist and publisher. He's considered one of the most important names that Istria gave to Croatia in the 20th century. His aliases include: Osip Suri, Barba Zvane, and Filus.

The Zvane Črnja Award is a Croatian literary award given for the best Croatian book of essays. It is awarded once a year in memory of the Croatian writer, culturologist and publicist Zvane Črnja. The award consists of a plaque and a monetary amount and was established in 2007 as part of the Pulski dani eseja. The competition is announced and the award bestowed by the Croatian Writers' Association in conjunction with the Istrian branch of the DHK.

Francesco Neffat (Franjo Nefat), was an antifascist, politician and blacksmith from Pula, who contributed to the liberation of Pula during World War 2, and to the annexation of Istria to Croatia. He was the first president of the Norodnog odbora of Pula (Chief Executive of Pula) from 1947 to 1954.

Bruno Juričić is a Croatian architect. He represented Croatia at 2018 Venice Biennale. In 2018, Juričić won a €100 million tender for the Xia Ke complex in Haining, China, becoming the first Croatian in history to win an international tender of this size with his own project.

The 2022–23 NK Istra 1961 season was the club's 62nd season in existence and the 14th consecutive season in the top flight of Croatian football.

The Melodije Istre i Kvarnera 2022 was the 52nd edition of the annual Melodije Istre i Kvarnera, a song contest held annually in multiple towns in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county of Croatia. The show was held between 22 and 25 June 2022, and presented by Robert Ferlin, Mario Battifiaca and Uršula Tolj. Andrej Baša served as the artistic director for the competition.
