An oblast in Ukraine, sometimes translated as region or province, is the main type of first-level administrative division of the country. Ukraine's territory is divided into 24 oblasts, as well as one autonomous republic and two cities with special status. Ukraine is a unitary state, thus the oblasts do not have much legal scope of competence other than that which is established in the Ukrainian Constitution and devolved by law. Football is the most popular sport in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Association of Football is the national governing body and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the game of football in the country. It was organised in 1991 to replace the Soviet republican-level Football Federation of Ukrainian SSR, created earlier in the 1920s as part of the Soviet system of physical culture councils. The Ukrainian Association of Football is a non-governmental organization and is a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

Higher education in Ukraine operates several levels, all of which are regulated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In early 2016, Ukraine had 802 universities, but the Ministry intends to lower that number to 317. Ukraine had 1,586,700 higher education students in 2016-17.

The 2013–14 Ukrainian Cup is the 23rd annual season of Ukraine's football knockout competition.

The 2014–15 Ukrainian Cup is the 24th annual season of Ukraine's football knockout competition. The decision on a schedule of competitions for clubs of the First and Second League and amateur leagues composition was confirmed on 23 July 2014 at a session of Central Council of the Professional Football League of Ukraine.

The Special Police Forces is a Ukrainian volunteer corps of law enforcement units, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. It was originally created for prevention of criminal encroachment and defence of civil order on 15 April 2014, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During the ongoing war in Donbas, the forces of the Special Tasks Patrol Police have fought against pro-Russian separatists as a paramilitary force.

The UA University is the official Ukrainian organization founded with support of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Meanwhile, UA University is a private company and a part of NAUKAUA LLC.

The Territorial Defence Forces are the military reserve component of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian football clubs have participated in European football competitions since 1965, when in the 1965–66 season, Dynamo Kyiv took part in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup – the first Ukrainian and the first Soviet club to do so. In total, 17 clubs have represented Ukraine in European competition, among which 7 also previously represented the Soviet Union.

The Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN) began in 1998 as part of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. The goal of this merger is the mutual exchange of experience in research and teaching and mutual recognition of qualifications, promotion of the mobility of teachers and students and the utilisation of international programmes to promote student exchanges. The organisation is based in Constanța in Romania (2018). Pericles A. Mitkas has been President of BSUN since 2018. A current goal is to increase cooperation with the Balkan Universities Network.

The 2021–22 Ukrainian Cup was the 31st annual season of Ukraine's football knockout competition. The competition started on 4 August 2021 and was expected to be concluded on 11 May 2022 with the final. The Ukrainian Association of Football announced that the new competition sponsor is a betting company VBet, same as for the Ukrainian Premier League. Dynamo Kyiv were the two-time defending winners.
