Roger Federer is a Swiss professional tennis player who is ranked world No. 3 in men's singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles—the most in history by a male player—and has held the world No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings for a record total of 310 weeks and was the year-end No. 1 five times, including four consecutive. Federer, who turned professional in 1998, was continuously ranked in the top ten from October 2002 to November 2016.
Peter René Baumann, better known as DJ BoBo, is a Swiss recording artist, singer-songwriter, dancer and music producer. He has sold 14 million records worldwide and has released 12 studio albums as well as a few compilation albums which have included his previous hits in a reworked format. DJ BoBo has also released as many as 34 singles to date, some of which have charted high, not only in German speaking countries, but also in other European territories.
"Nobody Wants to Be Lonely" is the second single released January 9, 2001, from Ricky Martin's second English album, Sound Loaded. Martin also recorded a Spanish version of this single, entitled "Sólo Quiero Amarte". A duet version of the song was also recorded, featuring Christina Aguilera alongside Martin. This version was later included in four of Martin's compilations: The Best of Ricky Martin, 17, 17: Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits: Souvenir Edition. It was also included in the international version of Aguilera's greatest hits album Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits.
"Flashdance... What a Feeling" is a song from the 1983 film Flashdance, written by Italian composer Giorgio Moroder (music), Keith Forsey and Irene Cara (lyrics), and performed by Cara.
"Musicology" is a song by Prince, and title track from his 2004 album of the same name. The song is an obvious ode to James Brown's style of funk music popularized in the early 1970s. The song is also reminiscent of Prince's own "The Work, pt. 1", from his 2001 album The Rainbow Children.
The FIL World Luge Championships, part of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have taken place on an almost annual basis in non-Winter Olympics years since 1955. "The Cup of Life" is a song recorded by Ricky Martin. It was released on March 9, 1998, as the second single from Vuelve (1998). The song was written by Ian Blake and Desmond Child, with lyrics by Luis Gómez-Escolar. "The Cup of Life" became the official song of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France and topped the charts in many countries around the world. It is ranked as the best World Cup anthem of all time.
"Say You, Say Me" is a song written and recorded by Lionel Richie for the film White Nights, starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. The single hit number 1 in the US and on the R&B singles chart in December 1985. It became Richie's ninth number-one on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The track is not available on the film's soundtrack album, as Motown did not want Richie's first single following the massive success of his 1983 album Can't Slow Down to appear on another label. It was included by Motown on Richie's 1986 release Dancing on the Ceiling.
"Hello" is a song by Lionel Richie. Taken as the third single from his second solo album Can't Slow Down (1983), the song was released in 1984 and reached number one on three Billboard music charts: the pop chart, the R&B chart, and the adult contemporary chart. The song also went to number one in the UK Singles Chart for six weeks. The song later inspired a lawsuit by songwriter Marjorie Hoffman White, who accused Richie of plagiarizing her composition "I'm Not Ready to Go".
The Swiss Figure Skating Championships are a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of Switzerland. Medals may be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, although not every discipline has been held in every year due to a lack of participants.
"I'm Still Standing" is a song by British rock musician Elton John, from his Platinum-certified 1983 album, Too Low for Zero. John said this was "my reaction to still being relevant and successful in the early 1980s, post-punk and with the New Romantics creeping in."
The Switzerland Fed Cup team represents Switzerland in Fed Cup tennis competition and are governed by Swiss Tennis. They currently compete in World Group II.

Jeanine Cicognini is a Swiss badminton player who now represents Italy. Cicognini won her first Swiss senior title at age 16 and has since won the award seven more times.
The Ladies Championship Lausanne is a women's professional tennis tournament which is currently played in Lausanne but has played in a number of locations in Switzerland. The event was called the WTA Swiss Open from 1899–1994, and was played on outdoor clay courts. The tournament underwent a name change in 1986, when it was titled the European Open until its discontinuation. It formed part of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. When the WTA introduced the tiering format to its circuit, the event gradually moved up, from being a Tier V in 1988–1989, a Tier IV from 1990–1992, and a Tier III for its remaining years. The WTA announced that the tournament would return in Gstaad as a clay event on the 2016 Tour, replacing another clay court event held in Bad Gastein.
Sabrina Jaquet is a Swiss Badminton player. Jaquet competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She qualified for the Games by reaching the quarter finals of the 2012 European Championship in Karlskrona, Sweden. She also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Sapsiree Taerattanachai is a Thai badminton player who competed at the 2014 Asian Games and the 2016 Olympics. In 2009, she was a semi-finalist in girls' doubles at the World Junior Championships, and the following year, she was runner-up at the Asian Junior Championships. She won gold at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. In 2014, Sapsiree became the first player ever to become a Grand Prix Gold finalist in all three disciplines. She won the women's doubles title at the 2012 India Open Grand Prix Gold, then the women's singles title at the 2013 U.S. Open Grand Prix Gold, then was runner-up at the 2014 U.S. Open Grand Prix Gold. With her mixed doubles victory at the 2017 Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold, she did one better and became the first player to win Grand Prix Gold titles in all three disciplines.
Henri Joona Julius Laaksonen is a Swiss-Finnish tennis player. His highest singles ranking is world No. 93, which he achieved in August 2017, and his highest doubles ranking is world No. 191, achieved in December 2018.
The World Group was the highest level of Fed Cup competition in 2016.
The 2016 Swiss Indoors was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the 47th edition of the event, and part of the 500 series of the 2016 ATP World Tour. It was held at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, from 24 October through 30 October 2016. Fourth-seeded Marin Čilić won the singles title.
