This list compiles people awarded with the hijo/a predilecto/a (predilect son or daughter) and hijo/a adoptivo/a (adoptive son or daughter) honorary titles by the Madrid municipality. The former referring to Madrid-born people while the latter to people born outside of Madrid, both awarded according "to their standout personal qualities or merits and, singularly, on the basis of their services of benefit, improvement or honour to Madrid". [1]

Hijo Predilecto de Andalucía

The title of Hijo Predilecto de Andalucía or in the case of a female recipient Hija Predilecta de Andalucía is an honorific title granted annually on August 10 according to decree 156/1983 of the Andalusian Autonomous Government, recognizing exceptional merit or distinction in relation to the Andalusian region, through scientific, social or political actions or works that have redounded to the benefit of Andalusia. It is the highest distinction of the autonomous community of Andalusia.

Antonio Domínguez Ortiz was a Spanish historian, one of the leading specialists in the history of the Spanish Antiguo Régimen of the 16th through 18th centuries, in particular in social history. He was also expert historian of Andalusia, with a particular emphasis on the history of the Moriscos.

Etelvina Andreu Sánchez is the General Director of Consumer and Citizen Services of the Spanish Ministry of Health and Social Politics. In addition to her political career, she has also specialised in research into the pancreas.

Francisca "Paquita" Sauquillo Pérez del Arco is a Spanish lawyer and politician known for her activism as a labor lawyer and in defense of democratic liberties during the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. She has been a deputy of the Assembly of Madrid (1983–1994), a Senator (1983–1994) and a member of the European Parliament (1994–2004). Since 1985 she has been president of the NGO Movement for Peace, Disarmament, and Freedom (MPDL). Since May 2016, she has presided as Commissioner of Historical Memory of the City Council of Madrid.

The military career of Francisco Franco Bahamonde began on 29 August 1907, when he took the oath as a cadet at the Spanishy Toledo Infantry Academy. On 13 July 1910 he graduated from Infantry Academy and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Spanish Army, in the same promotion as Juan Yagüe, Emilio Esteban Infantes, Camilo Alonso Vega, José Asensio, Lisardo Doval Bravo and Eduardo Sáenz de Buruaga. He rose through the ranks over the next twenty years and became one of the most important Spanish commissioned officers of the Rif War. On 31 January 1926 Franco, aged 33, became the youngest general in all of Europe. In January 1928 he was then chosen to direct the newly formed General Military Academy in Zaragoza. From 19 May 1935 to 23 February 1936, Franco was elevated to Chief of Army Staff before the 1936 election moved the leftist Popular Front into power, relegating him to the Canary Islands as Commander of the Archipelago Force. After initial reluctance, he joined the July 1936 military coup which, after failing to take Spain, sparked the Spanish Civil War.
