Throughout much of its history, the Pothohar Plateau in northern Punjab was primarily dominated by the Khokhar and Gakhar tribes. Following a list of the known rulers of the Pothohar Plateau:

Khokhar is a historical Punjabi tribe primarily native to the Pothohar Plateau of Pakistani Punjab. Khokhars are also found in the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. Khokhars predominantly follow Islam, having converted to Islam from Hinduism after coming under the influence of Baba Farid.

Dadhocha is a small village near Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Gakhars (Kayani) are a majority clan but village also houses a large number from Janjua (Rajput) families. The area is semi mountainous and part of the Pothohar Plateau. The Dadhocha Dam is planned to be constructed in the area.

Sindh Sagar Doab, sometimes shortened as Sagar Doab, is a tract of land in the Punjab region, lying between the Indus and Jhelum rivers, in present-day Pakistan. It is one of the five major doabs of the Punjab and forms the north western portion of the region, covering the Hazara Hills, Galyat, Pothohar Plateau and Thal Desert.

Chak Beli Khan is a town and union council of Rawalpindi District, Punjab, Pakistan central to a large population. It is located in the Pothohar Plateau near the Soan River. It has a large marketplace. It is one of the largest towns in Rawalpindi District.
