This is a list of major incidents in Denmark where an organized group has attempted an act of violence targeting innocents. Dates in boldface are attacks that were carried out, dates without boldface are the date of arrest in plots that were not carried out.

While no people were injured in the attack on the synagogue, a second bomb placed by the same group destroyed the Copenhagen offices of the American Northwest Orient Airlines, killing one person and injuring 26. [1] [2] Several Arabs residing in Europe, among them Mohammed Abu Talb, were later convicted for these and other attacks.
16 March 1992Terror bombing10 1992 Copenhagen bombing - The office of International Socialists was hit by a bomb, and one person was killed. The attack is generally assumed to have been the work of far-right extremists, but the case remains unsolved.
5 September 2006Attempted bomb plot00 Vollsmose terrorist trial - nine people were arrested in Odense on 5 September 2006. Four were charged and three of them were convicted of attempted terrorism. They were motivated by Islamic extremism and planned on detonating bombs in one or more locations in Denmark. The Danish Minister of Justice called the terrorist plot the most severe in the history of Denmark. [3] [4]
4 September 2007Attempted bomb plot00 2007 Al Qaeda Plot in Copenhagen - Danish police officers and Security Intelligence Service agents arrested eight, six of whom were released after questioning. The two remaining, described as Islamic militants with ties to Al Qaeda, were convicted in 2008 of planning terrorism with the use of bombs. [5] [6]
29 December 2010Attempted shooting plot00 2010 Copenhagen terror plot - Security services in Denmark and Sweden thwarted a terrorist plot against Jyllands-Posten, the publisher of the controversial cartoons of Muhammad in 2005. In several raids, they detained five men, who were described as militant Islamists. Automatic weapons, together with ammunition and silencers, were seized by the police. [7]
May 2012Attempted terror plot00Two Somali brothers residing in Denmark were arrested in May 2012 on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack and the elder was alleged to have undergone training by Al-Shabaab. In February 2013 they were charged with financing terrorism and terrorist training. The younger brother admitted to supporting Al-Shabaab in the district court. Upon appeal, both brothers were sentenced for attempted terrorist training in the appeals court. [8]
14 February 2015Shooting2 (+1 perp.)5 2015 Copenhagen shootings - shooting attacks in Copenhagen beginning in the afternoon of 14 February at a public event called "Art, Blasphemy, and Freedom of Expression" at Krudttønden cultural centre, followed by another at the Great Synagogue just after midnight (i.e., 15 February), and finally the killing of the perpetrator in the early morning by police. Two victims and the perpetrator were killed, while five police officers were wounded. [9]
13 January 2016Attempted bomb plot00 The Kundby case - a 2016 plan to bomb two schools in Denmark, including a Jewish school in Copenhagen. The girl, 15 years old at the time of her plan and a recent convert to Islam, was convicted in 2017. [10] [11]
November 2016Attempted bombs and knives plot00 2016 Copenhagen terror plot - an attempted attack on Copenhagen with bombs and knives by two Syrian refugees (one living in Sweden, another in Germany) under the direction of Islamic State instructions. [12]
21 October 2018Attempted assassination plot00 Ringsted terror plot - A Norwegian-Iranian was arrested and suspected of having planned Iranian intelligence operations in Denmark. Both Norwegian PST and Danish PET also suspected the man to take part in the planning of an assassination against the leader of the Iranian group Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz. He was arrested in Gothenburg, Sweden on 21 October. [13]
11 December 2019Attempted bomb and shooting plot00 Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and police arrested around 20 people throughout Denmark, 8 of whom have been charged with attempted terrorism. They had bought bomb-making materials and tried (unsuccessfully) to acquire firearms. It is unknown if their target was in Denmark or abroad, but the motive was radical Islamist ideology. [14] [15]
9 February 2021Attempted bomb and shooting plot00 Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and police arrested 13 people in Holbæk.

In 1980, an estimated 30,000 Muslims lived in Denmark, amounting to 0.6% of the population.

The last two subsidiaries comprise Coop Bank and Coop Invest.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Søren Kam</span> Danish Nazi criminal

Søren Kam was a Danish junior officer in the Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany during World War II. He was wanted for murder in Denmark and listed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center as one of the most wanted Nazi war criminals.

On September 4, 2007, two men who were planning a terror attack were arrested along several others by Danish police officers and Security Intelligence Service agents in several coordinated actions throughout the Greater Copenhagen area. The two men were later convicted and sentenced to twelve and seven years in prison, respectively. In Danish, it became known as the "terror case from Glasvej" after the road where the convicted ringleader had his apartment, which had been under surveillance for an extended period of time before the arrests. It is unknown if the target of the planned bombing was in Denmark or abroad.

Søren Krarup was a Danish pastor, writer and politician who served as a member of the Danish Parliament from 2001 to 2011 for the Danish People's Party.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Denmark–Uganda relations</span> Bilateral relations

Denmark–Uganda relations are foreign relations between Denmark and Uganda. Denmark has an embassy in Kampala, and Uganda has an embassy in Copenhagen. Diplomatic relations were established on 1 April 1968. On 12 November 1971, Denmark and Uganda signed a treaty on a Danish Government loan to Uganda. Bilateral relations between Denmark and Uganda are described as strong.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hotel Jørgensen explosion</span> 2010 explosion in Copenhagen, Denmark

The explosion at Hotel Jørgensen was a minor explosion inside of the discount hostel of the same name in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The explosion happened at 1:23 pm on 10 September 2010. No fatalities were recorded. The only injured person was the one-legged Chechnyan-Belgian bomber Lors Doukaiev, who was caught in a nearby park, Ørstedsparken, following the explosion, but only identified several days later.

Pernille Rosendahl is a Danish singer, songwriter, and producer known as a solo artist, the lead singer of the indie rock band Swan Lee, and the rock band The Storm. Since she was 19, Pernille Rosendahl has had an active career, initially as a backing vocalist and since 1997 as a self-releasing solo artist. In 2005, she was named 'Singer of the Year' at the Danish Music Awards and has composed music for films and theater, becoming a prominent voice in Danish cultural debates. Over three decades, she has been one of Denmark's most prominent female singers.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Geranium (restaurant)</span> Danish restaurant

Geranium is a Danish gourmet restaurant in Parken in the center of Copenhagen. The head chef is Danish chef Rasmus Kofoed, who won the Bocuse d'Or in 2011. It was one of the first Danish three-starred restaurants according to the Michelin Guide. In 2022, it was named best restaurant in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Libertære Socialister</span> Political party in Denmark

Libertære Socialister was a Danish political left-wing organization which was founded on November 8, 2009, at its third initial meeting in Horsens. The organisation was working on the political ground of an anti-capitalist, revolutionary and libertarian socialist platform. LS had local groups in Copenhagen, Aalborg and Odense and these groups were linked together in a federation, which was described in details the organization's rules.

Yahya Hassan was a Danish poet and political activist of Palestinian descent, whose poems and public statements criticizing both Islam and Danish policies on migration and participation in armed conflicts made him a much-debated and controversial figure.

Terrorism in Denmark refers to terrorist attacks carried out in Denmark or by people connected to Denmark. Like other countries Denmark increased its focus on defending against terrorist attacks after the September 11 attacks in New York in 2001. The September 11 attacks led to strengthened laws in a number of areas. 31 May 2002 the parliament of Denmark approved anti-terror legislation with the aim of preventing terrorism in Denmark and internationally. The new legislation aligned with the definitions of terrorism which were in use by the European Union and the United Nations.

The Kundby case was a 2016 plan to bomb two schools in Denmark, including a Jewish school in Copenhagen. The plan was made by a 15-year-old Danish girl from Kundby, Denmark named Natascha Colding-Olsen. The police found chemicals to create a bomb in her home in Kundby.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Chief of the Royal Danish Army</span>

The Chief of the Army Command is the service chief of the Royal Danish Army. The current chief is Major general Gunner Arpe Nielsen.

The 2016 Copenhagen terror plot was foiled in November 2016 when a Syrian refugee Dieab K. tried to enter Denmark, but was refused entry and sent back to Germany where he was apprehended and found to be carrying bomb making materials and knives.

<i>Go morgen Danmark</i> Danish morning television show

Go' morgen Danmark is a Danish morning television show that airs on TV 2. The program airs live from Copenhagen's Central Station, with occasional segments recorded at Tivoli. As of June 2020, it is hosted by Mikkel Kryger, Ida Wohlert, Adam Duvå Hall, Louise Wolff, Steen Langeberg, and Puk Elgård.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mette Thiesen</span> Danish politician

Mette Thiesen is a Danish politician and former schoolteacher who has been a member of the Folketing since June 2019, at first representing the Nye Borgerlige political party, but from November 2022 being an independent, and from February 2023 representing the Danish People's Party.

Claus Ebbe Bjørn was a Danish author, historian, and television and radio broadcaster, who was Associate Professor of Agricultural History at the University of Copenhagen, Chairman of the Danish Agricultural History Society and Member of the Royal Danish Society of the History of the Fatherland.
