There are more than 85 universities and academics in total: 35 public universities, (four technical universities, one institutes of technology, and two fine arts university, one national defense university, and one police academy) 45 private universities and colleges. Iskan, Al Iskan or Al-Iskan Arabic: الإسكان, are a series of cities built and founded by the 24th prime minister of Iraq, the late Abdul-Karim Qasim. He built an Al-Iskan in each of the 18 provinces of Iraq as a bid to help implement a number of positive domestic changes that benefited Iraqi society, thus; oversaw the building of 35,000 residential units to house the poor and destitute of Iraq.
The Iraqi Virtual Science Library is an Iraqi Virtual Library providing Iraqi academics with access to recourses via the internet. The library, launched in May 2006, initially provided access to more than one million articles from 17,000 electronic journals and other resources. Access to this knowledge is considered vital for the rebuilding of Iraq as it will improve the curriculum which suffered under Saddam Hussein's regime. The library is part of the overall plan to improve access to information in Iraq.
The 2009–10 Iraqi Premier League was the 36th edition of the competition. It was initially set to start in October 2009, but was later rescheduled for December as a 36-team league. The season saw Duhok crowned as champions for the first time.

The 2012–13 Iraq FA Cup was the 26th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football. It was the first edition held since the 2002–03 season.
Citizen Alliance was a political coalition in Iraq led by Ammar al-Hakim, President of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, from 2014 to 2017. Most of its MPs joined the National Wisdom Movement when this new party was launched in 2017 by Ammar al-Hakim.

The capital city Baghdad is the second largest city in the Arab world and the 4th largest in the Middle East. Iraq has several World Heritage Sites, dating back to ancient Mesopotamia, most notably Babylon Iraq. Iraq is considered to be a potential location for ecotourism. Orphan Charity Foundation is a humanistic independent Foundation cares for orphans' affairs, in general, and orphans of terrorism, in particular. It was founded in the 4th of March 2007 on the recommendation of Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Sai'd Al-Hakim and under the direct supervision and support of his office. Granted with success by Allah and within extraordinary circumstances, the activities of the Foundation could cover fourteen governorates with their districts, villages, and towns. OCF aims at supporting the orphans psychologically, educationally, economically, and socially.
The 2002–03 Iraq FA Cup was the 25th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football. It kicked off on 2 September 2002, and the final was played on 23 August 2003 at the Franso Hariri Stadium in Erbil.
The 1999–2000 Iraq FA Cup was the 23rd edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition. The tournament was won by Al-Zawraa for the third time in a row and the 14th time in their history, beating Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya 4–3 on penalties in the final after a 0–0 draw. Al-Zawraa also won the League, the Umm al-Ma'arik Championship and the Super Cup in the 1999–2000 season to become the second Iraqi side to win the domestic quadruple.
The 2021–22 Iraq FA Cup was the 32nd edition of the Iraqi knockout football cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football, featuring a record 168 clubs from the top four tiers of the Iraqi football league system,. The competition began on 10 September 2021 with the first-round matches involving teams from the third and fourth tiers, and the final was played on 16 July 2022 at Al-Madina Stadium in Baghdad.
The 2022–23 Iraq FA Cup was the 33rd edition of the Iraqi knockout football cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football, featuring clubs from the top three tiers of the Iraqi football league system. The competition began on 1 November 2022 with the first round, and the final was played on 5 August 2023 at Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad.
The 2023 Iraqi Republic Championship was a newly-returned friendly tournament organised by the Iraq Football Association. All 18 governorates of Iraq were represented in this tournament. The tournament started in August 2023, during the off-season of the Iraqi Premier League. This was the tournament's first edition in over 30 years. Salahaddin XI beat Baghdad Karkh XI in the final on 27 September to win the tournament.
