British Royal University for Science and Technology, Erbil — the Ministry of Higher Education is disputing its name, and so degrees as of April 16, 2011, were illegal according to Ministry of High Education until the issue is resolved.
Erbil Governorate is a governorate in the Kurdistan Region. It is the capital and economic hub of the autonomous region of Kurdistan.
Sulaymaniyah, also spelled as Slemani, is a city in the east of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, not far from the Iran–Iraq border. Salahaddin University-Erbil is one of the public higher education institutions in the Kurdistan region It is located in Erbil (Hewler), capital of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Sulaimani University-Sulaimani was established in 1968. It was moved to Erbil in 1981 and changed its name to Salaheddin university. Initially, the university included seven Academic Colleges: Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Administration, Arts, Education, and Medicine. In 1985, a college of Law and Politics was added, followed by the college of Dentistry in 1995. Several more were established in the following years so that by 2004, the university offered courses in 22 departments. In 2005, the departments of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Pharmacy split from Salahaddin University to establish Hawler Medical University.
Bahdinan or Badinan was one of the most powerful and enduring Kurdish principalities. It was founded by Baha-al-Din originally from Şemzînan area in Hakkari in sometime between 13th or 14th century CE. The capital of this emirate was Amadiya for a long time. The rulers of the Bahdinan emirate governed over the Emirate since the Abbasid Empire, an early dynasty in Islamic history.

Cihan University is an educational institution in Erbil, capital of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It was established in 2007 by the A University Company for Scientific Investment which is a part of Cihan Group. Cihan is the first private university in the Kurdistan Region. A is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan and it is a member of the Association of Arab Universities Union (AARU).

The University of Halabja, or UoH is one of the Iraqi Kurdistan public universities founded in 2011 in the city of Halabja, Halabja Governorate. The university offers a variety of programs such as human sciences, law, physical education, engineering, sciences. Programs last for four years and students receive BA degrees in their corresponding fields at the end of the fourth year. the university campus is situated in Halabja and the college of Education in Sharazoor District. The first president of Halabja University was Dr. Khasraw Abdulla Ali. The current president is Dr. Mahabad Kamil Abdullah
Erbil Polytechnic University is a public polytechnic university in Erbil, Kurdistan founded in 1996. The university is recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kurdistan Regional Government.
The Kurdistan Premier League is the foremost association football league in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It is overseen by the Iraqi Kurdistan Football Association. The league is not officially recognized by FIFA or any of its confederations, therefore cannot compete in their continental or intercontinental competitions. The season runs from August and finishes in May, with each playing twenty six matches each. During the season, clubs compete for the Kurdistan Cup, which follows with the Kurdistan Super Cup, a contest held between league winners and the cup winners.
