Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, formerly known as North West Frontier Province (NWFP), is a province of Pakistan. The suburb is one of the most developed residential society of the town and is home to several of Peshawar's educational, sports and health institutions. Hayatabad is named after Hayat Sherpao, a Pakistani Pashtun politician.

The University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar , formerly known as NWFP University of Engineering and Technology, is a public university located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Formerly known as NWFP University of Engineering and Technology until 2010, it an institution of higher learning in Pakistan with a strong emphasis on the development of science and engineering. The university offers undergraduate and post-graduate programs in various engineering disciplines. The university is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of the United Kingdom. The university was regarded as one of the best engineering schools in the country and was ranked in 7th position nationwide in the category of "Engineering and Technology" by HEC, the highest governing body of higher education in Pakistan. According to Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, the university is ranked in 801-1000th worldwide and in 251-300th position in Asia.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, previously known as the Frontier Women University, is located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was formed as result of an order from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in 2004 and the university has been functioning since 2005.

Muhammad Hafizullah is a Pakistani Professor of cardiology who served as Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU) in Peshawar Chief Executive of Lady Reading Hospital and Head of Cardiology Department of Lady Reading Hospital. He is the Project Director of the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology and has contributed to national guidelines on thrombolysis, acute coronary syndrome, and ST elevation myocardial infarction developed by the Pakistan Cardiac Society.

Government Girls Degree College is public sector college located on Hayatabad, Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
