History

Littleworth was once a seperate village although it later became part of Stafford due to the town expanding population. The village became a suburb of the town as a result. It is mostly residential and is also close to the County Hospital. The former village itself is no longer discenrable due to the changes to it throughout the past centuries. The oldest building in the village is St John's Church, which originally dated back to the 19th century and was located on Weston Road. The original church was later demolished and rebuilt on Bedford Avenue. Despite originally being given permission and funds to build a new chapel on the site. [2] in 1927, using brickwork from the old Tixal Hall chapel. [3] The church was not fully completed due to running out of funds and as a result. A temporary chancel nave was constructed. It would not be until the 1970s, that the church would be fully built and completed by the then-vicar of the church. Reverend Vivian Woodward. A rectory was later added and the church hall on Tithe Barn Road was moved to be adjacent to the church. The former site of the old church was later built on and is now occupied by the Bayliss & Cooke Insurance Group.
