The Barbados national football team, nicknamed Bajan Tridents, is the national football team of Barbados, and is controlled by the Barbados Football Association. It has never qualified for a major international tournament. It came close to qualifying for the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup as it hosted the Caribbean Cup finals that acted as Gold Cup qualifiers, but finished fourth of the four teams. In 2001, it surprised many by making the semi-final round of the 2002 World Cup Qualifiers. In the first game of this round, they pulled off a shock 2–1 win over Costa Rica, but lost their five remaining games. In 2004, Barbados gained a shock 1–1 draw at home to Northern Ireland.

On January 27, 1994, the national football teams of Barbados and Grenada played against each other as part of the qualification round for the 1994 Caribbean Cup. Barbados won 4–2 in extra time. In the last minutes of regular time, both teams attempted to score own goals. The result has been described as "one of the strangest matches ever".

The 2015 Barbados Premier Division was the 69th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. Barbados Defense Force won their final six matches to hold off Rendezvous FC for their third consecutive league title and fifth overall. With BDF having already completed their schedule, Rendezvous FC needed to make up 11 goals in goal differential with a win on the final day of the season to pull even with BDF, but managed only a 2-1 victory over Weymouth Wales. The season began on February 8 and concluded on July 23.

The 2016 Barbados Premier Division is the 70th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. UWI Blackbirds won their first league title, holding off defending champions BDF by a single point. Pinelands United were winless and are joined by Empire Club in being relegated to Barbados First Division for the 2017 season.
