Lobstermen: Jeopardy at Sea is a multi-part documentary/reality show on the Discovery Channel chronicling the fall 2005 North Atlantic lobster fishing season aboard several fishing boats. Created and narrated by Thom Beers, it is heavily patterned after and can be considered a spin-off of fellow Discovery Channel program Deadliest Catch , which deals with Alaskan crab fishing. Lobstermen debuted on June 20, 2006, one week after the finale of season two of Deadliest Catch in its former time slot.

Contents

The central story of the show is the struggle of first-year captain Scott Christopher and his boat, Dragon Lady, in their attempt to gain a foothold on the hotly contested fishing grounds of the Georges Bank. In 2007, Lobster Wars debuted, following not only Dragon Lady, but also four other lobster boats.

Mike Rowe American television personality

Michael Gregory Rowe is an American television host, narrator, and former opera singer. He is known for his work on the Discovery Channel series Dirty Jobs and the series Somebody's Gotta Do It originally developed for CNN. He currently hosts a series produced for Facebook called Returning the Favor in which he finds people doing good deeds and does something for them in return. He also hosts the podcast The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe, which he describes as "short stories designed specifically for the curious mind plagued with a short attention span". The FV Time Bandit is a commercial crab fishing vessel co-captained by brothers Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand. It is featured on the Discovery Channel series Deadliest Catch. The Time Bandit is a 113-foot house aft boat owned by the Hillstrand brothers that was designed by the Hillstrands' father. The five men helped custom-build the boat's interior, including some comforts unheard of in a crab boat: a four-man sauna, state rooms with queen-size beds and a dishwasher. The vessel carries 137 crab pots.

Phil Harris (fisherman) American nautical captain

Phillip Charles Harris was an American captain and part owner of the crab fishing vessel Cornelia Marie, which is featured on Discovery Channel's documentary reality TV series Deadliest Catch. He suffered a massive stroke while offloading C. opilio crab in port at Saint Paul Island, Alaska, on January 29, 2010. Despite extreme improvements in his condition, Harris died on February 9, 2010 at the age of 53, while suffering an intracranial hemorrhage in the hospital.

The F/V Maverick is a commercial crab fishing vessel that featured on the first three seasons of the Discovery Channel's reality television show Deadliest Catch. The F/V Maverick was built by Giddings Boat Works in 1982. She is a 92-foot house aft vessel that holds 120 pots and sleeps between nine and ten people. She was purchased by Rick and Donna Quashnick of Warrenton, Oregon in 1991.
