Local Testimony is a regional photojournalism exhibition for photographers from Israel and the Palestinian Authority, held every year since 2003 in the Eretz Israel Museum. [1]
The exhibition is held alongside the World Press Photo exhibition, presenting photographs from the field of photojournalism. [2]
The photographs in the exhibition are selected by a panel of judges. Photographs are divided into several categories. Three images are selected in each category: first, second and third place. In addition to categories, Photo of the Year and Series of the Year are chosen by the jury. [3] [4]
One of the categories is Religion and Faith, which traditionally includes photographs reflecting life of the Jewish ultra-orthodox community. [5]
The exhibition was established by Dana Wohlfeiler-Lalkin, who has been the manager of the project since.
Local Testimony established the Frames of Reality project in 2008 in collaboration with Peres Center for Peace. The project is to bring together Israeli and Palestinian photojournalists and documentary photographers to promote coexistence and mutual understanding. The project includes workshops, meetings and lectures. [6]

Photojournalism is journalism that uses images to tell a news story. It usually only refers to still images, but can also refer to video used in broadcast journalism. Photojournalism is distinguished from other close branches of photography by having a rigid ethical framework which demands an honest but impartial approach that tells a story in strictly journalistic terms. Photojournalists contribute to the news media, and help communities connect with one other. They must be well-informed and knowledgeable, and are able to deliver news in a creative manner that is both informative and entertaining.
Lucian Perkins is an American photojournalist, who is best known for covering a number of conflicts with profound compassion for his photograph's subjects, including the war in Afghanistan, Kosovo and the 1991 Persian Gulf War. It has been said that Perkins has a developed style that not only portrays the hopes and weaknesses of the people in his photographs but in an unconventional manner. Perkins currently works at The Washington Post, where he has worked for the past 30 years and resides in Washington, D.C.
World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Founded in 1955, the organization is known for holding an annual press photography contest. Since 2011, World Press Photo has organized a separate annual contest for journalistic multimedia productions, and, in association with Human Rights Watch, the annual Tim Hetherington Grant.

POYi promotes the work of documentary photographers and magazine, newspaper, and freelance photojournalists.
Kevin Frayer is a Canadian photojournalist noted for his wartime work in the Middle East including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. He started his career in 1991 at the Winnipeg Sun and later as a National Photographer for the Canadian Press. From 2003-2009 he was based in the Middle East for the Associated Press and later in New Delhi as Chief Photographer for South Asia.
