Loft Music is an album by the English singer-songwriter by Thea Gilmore, released in June 2004. [1] It is an album of cover versions of other artists' songs, chosen from suggestions sent in by fans. Gilmore described Loft Music as an addendum to her 2003 album Avalanche . She called it a "this is where I came in" piece, recorded in homage to the writers and performers whose spirit stood with her during the album's execution. [1]
The album was recorded at The Loft, Liverpool - hence the title - and was co-produced by Nigel Stonier and Mike Cave.
Pop Matters gave the album an 8 out of 10 score, praising her takes on the songs as so good that "...you start to wonder why the original performers didn't do it her way in the first place." [1]

Paul Albert Anka is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter and actor. He is best known for his signature hit songs including "Diana", "Lonely Boy", "Put Your Head on My Shoulder", and "(You're) Having My Baby". Anka also wrote the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson; one of Tom Jones' biggest hits, "She's a Lady"; and the English lyrics to Claude François and Jacques Revaux's music for Frank Sinatra's signature song "My Way", which has been recorded by many, including Elvis Presley. Arulpragasam, Ross Orton, Steve Mackey, August Darnell and Stony Jr. Browder, with additional vocals and production by Nesreen Shah and Anthony Whiting. The song was released as the second single of the album on 7 July 2004 following the 2003 release of debut "Galang" and is M.I.A.'s first official release with XL Recordings. Released in vinyl record and CD single format, with the song "Fire Fire" serving as the song's B-side, "Sunshowers" was distributed by Interscope Records in the US.

Uncut magazine ranked Avalanche at number 59 of its "Albums of the Year" for 2003 and said of Gilmore: "You can here her growing in stature with every record she makes."

Roderick Parry Clements is a British guitarist, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He formed the folk-rock band Lindisfarne with Alan Hull in 1970, and wrote "Meet Me on the Corner", a UK Top 5 hit in March 1972, which won Clements an Ivor Novello Award. Lindisfarne broke up in 1973 and Clements became a founding member of Jack the Lad, also working with Ralph McTell and Bert Jansch. Lindisfarne reformed in 1977 and Clements continued to be part of the line-up until 2003. Rod rejoined Lindisfarne in 2015 and is currently touring and performing with the band.

It was recorded in Nashville between December 2007 and March 2008. The album had the dedication "to my Mom in her 96th year".
