London is a board game by Martin Wallace. Released in 2010, the game requires players to rebuild London after the Great Fire of London up until the start of the 20th century. London is a card-driven game with a board in the form of a map of London. [1] [2] It won a Meeples Choice award in 2010 and was nominated for an International Gamers Award in 2011. [3] [4]
To rebuild London players purchase boroughs on the board and play cards from their deck. The cards represent buildings of economic, political, scientific, and cultural significance throughout the history of the city. [2] This includes general constructions such as bridges, coffee houses, and hospitals, along with famous landmarks such as Woolwich Arsenal, and Tower Bridge. [2] [5] Players must choose which buildings they wish to construct based on the benefits that each card will give them. The management of poverty is central to the game and players can lose a significant number of victory points if they have accrued more poverty points than their opponents. [1] [2]
Like other games by Martin Wallace, London is considered to involve a strong economic system that players must manage carefully. [5] [6] After buildings have been constructed they may be activated. Many of the cards earn income for the player and this is the primary source of money in the game. Money is used to buy boroughs, construct buildings, and in some cases activate the cards in play. Players may take loans out but receive a significant penalty if they cannot pay it back at the end of the game. [1] [2]
Reviews of the game state that its "deep strategy" makes it a good game for "smaller groups of serious gamers". [2] The game mechanics were praised for being thematically relevant in the historical setting. [2] A criticism of the game is the general lack of interaction between players throughout most of the game. [2] [6] [7]

Dominion is a card game created by Donald X. Vaccarino and published by Rio Grande Games. Originally published in 2008, it was the first deck-building game, and inspired a genre of games building on its central mechanic. Each player begins with a small deck of cards, which they improve by purchasing cards from a common supply that varies from game to game. Each turn, players draw from their deck and use the cards drawn to purchase new cards or perform other actions. Once a player's draw pile is depleted, they reshuffle their discard pile back into their draw pile, thus allowing cards purchased on prior turns to be drawn and played on future turns. The player who has the most victory points by the end of the game wins.
Catan, previously known as The Settlers of Catan or simply Settlers, is a multiplayer board game designed by Klaus Teuber. It was first published in 1995 in Germany by Franckh-Kosmos Verlag (Kosmos) as Die Siedler von Catan. Players take on the roles of settlers, each attempting to build and develop holdings while trading and acquiring resources. Players gain victory points as their settlements grow and the first to reach a set number of victory points, typically 10, wins. Discworld: Ankh Morpork is a board game set in the largest city-state in Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Designed by Martin Wallace and Treefrog Games, the game revolves around the playing of cards and placing minions onto the board. Each player attempts to meet the win condition for the personality that they randomly and secretly selected at the start of the game. The game features many characters from the Discworld series, but players do not need to have any knowledge about the books.
Lords of Waterdeep is a German-style board game designed by Peter Lee and Rodney Thompson and published by Wizards of the Coast in 2012. The game is set in Waterdeep, a fictional city in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. Hanabi is a cooperative card game created by French game designer Antoine Bauza and published in 2010. The types of information that players may give to each other is limited, as is the total amount of information that can be given during the game. In 2013, Hanabi won the Spiel des Jahres, an industry award for best board game of the year.
Dead of Winter is a semi-cooperative survival strategy board game for two to five players designed by Jonathan Gilmour and Isaac Vega through Plaid Hat Games. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested colony. Players are faction leaders who must work together to ensure the colony's survival through incoming zombies and lack of supplies. In addition, players have individual, secret win conditions that they must meet to be victorious.

Cartographers is a roll and write board game designed by Jordy Adan and published in 2019 by Thunderworks Games. It is part of the Roll Player universe. In the game, players aim to draw terrains based on drawn cards that award points based on the relevant letter cards. The game received positive reviews, and was nominated for the Kennerspiel des Jahres, but lost to The Crew. It was also runner-up to Parks for the Best Family Game of the 2019 Board Game Quests Awards. An app for solitary play was released in 2020.
Wyrmspan is a board game for one to five players designed by Connie Vogelmann and published by Stonemaier Games in 2024. It is a card-driven, engine-building board game in which players compete to excavate labyrinths and entice dragons to the sanctuary of their caves. Based on the acclaimed board game Wingspan, Wyrmspan is themed around dragons instead of birds and hosts slightly more complex game mechanics. Upon its release Wyrmspan received widespread positive reviews and achieved the largest single-day product sale quantity in Stonemaier Games history.
